Sometimes it is easy to spot a performer who has the potential to be a breakout star. Individuals like Rhea Ripley and MJF are examples of young performers who had their “moment” and since broken through to superstar status. WWE has another on the roster. Oba Femi stands as a dominant force in WWE NXT, but his potential rises well beyond the Tuesday brand. He’s someone who should become a superstar in professional wrestling if he gets the opportunity.

Oba Femi stands 6’6” and weighs in at 310 pounds. While there are several wrestlers who’d get the designation of being a “big man,” there are some who immediately present larger-than-life. Femi is giving that energy every time he steps through the walkway in NXT.

Not only does he have the look, but he has improved a lot in the ring. According to Cagematch, Femi is coming up on the third anniversary of his professional debut. But if you look at his match rankings, he has several matches that stand out. Such as his match against Je’Von Evans at WWE Heatwave back in August, which sits at an 8.86 rating. In 2025, his average match rating is 7.26, which is high for someone who is this early in their career.

Oba Femi is 239 days into his run as the WWE NXT Champion at the point of this writing. His next big challenger appears to be Ricky Saints, another name who fans are watching as he has a high ceiling as well. Do not be surprised if Saints is the man to take that title off Femi’s waist. He’s achieved all he can in NXT, and it is time for him to hit the main roster. A superstar of this level cannot be ignored much longer, and that is going to be a major test for Triple H’s booking on the main roster.

There’s no reason Femi shouldn’t get a similar push to someone like Bron Breakker. Both Femi and Breakker are 27 years old, young enough to the pillars that the future is built upon. Femi’s character has presented well on NXT, especially during his run as NXT Champion. That should translate to either WWE Raw or SmackDown. But again, all that hinges upon how he’s booked when he gets there. Fans are consistently pointing to the facts around how Triple H books Black men on the main roster, and expect those complaints to be even louder if someone like Oba Femi is underutilized as well. It would be the final nail in the coffin for anyone who claims X Black wrestler isn’t “ready” and needs to wait for their time.

WWE needs help building the well of young talent on the main roster. Someone like Oba Femi would immediately help that situation. He screams superstar, and once he gets under the big lights, which should translate to either of the top shows. That time has to be coming soon because fans are calling for it more and more.
