Oba Femi versus Rusev is the next big feud WWE needs to make

During a recent WWE NXT Live Event, something interesting happened. Rusev and Oba Femi locked horns. Rusev paired with Jasper Troy and Ethan Page, while Femi was added to the current NXT Tag Team Champions, Hank, and Tank. The trio of champions won the match, but there’s rumbling that Rusev versus Femi would be a huge feud to see.

Oba Femi is a WWE superstar in the making. Everything about him fits the part. He has the look, the size, the personality, and the in-ring abilities to be someone that WWE leverages into a big star. He’s only 27 years old, and his youth is valuable at a time when the men’s division is rapidly getting older. As Femi approaches 250+ days as NXT Champion, it is time to start thinking about that main roster call-up. Rusev could play a part in that step.

Rusev’s return to WWE has been met with a tepid response. While he and Sheamus have put on some epic battles, the narrative that he’s treading water continues to gain steam online. While there is some disingenuous energy behind that discussion, Rusev’s fans should still wonder what is next for the Bulgarian brute. This is where a run in NXT could come into play.

Femi has demolished much of the NXT roster. He stands as a dominant champion. Ricky Saints is an important challenger, and perhaps the man who will take that title from around his waist. But if that doesn’t happen, Rusev versus Femi would be a big feud to build around.

Think back to when Braun Strowman and Bronson Reed were battling in 2024. One of the funniest and engaging aspects of their feud was the two giants battling backstage, crashing through walls, and causing chaos. That idea could be repurposed for Rusev versus Femi, except have them battling across both NXT and WWE Raw. Leading to a big match being made between the two on an NXT PLE. This would be the opportunity to introduce Femi to the main roster, while giving him a big hurdle coming off an important win as his next challenger. Rusev could even be the man to take that championship, creating the space for Femi to move to the main roster, while Rusev moves to NXT as the new champion.

Oba Femi has the makings to be a massive star that WWE can build around for years to come. One step to help guide him there would be to use current stars to grow his name. Rusev is someone who should be used in that spot, much like Dolph Ziggler was used to help Bron Breakker. Now is the time to start developing the stars of the future, and Femi is among that group.
