Orange Cassidy is a shining example of All Elite Wrestling
A few weeks ago, Orange Cassidy gave fans a heartfelt promo in which he declared his love for All Elite Wrestling. During that speech, he affirmed his place in the company because, without AEW, there would not be an Orange Cassidy. He’s right. Cassidy’s position as one of the most beloved figures in professional wrestling is firmly possible because of AEW. It’s a reality that everyone should be thankful for their experience watching Cassidy perform.
Cassidy has twenty years of experience under his belt. And within those twenty years, it would be hard to find any that are more important than the last four within All Elite Wrestling. Why is that the case? Because it is during this run that Cassidy has become somewhat of a household name among wrestling fans. He’s done so by embracing who he is and doing so in a promotion where his antics are welcomed.
Orange Cassidy has grown from the lazy millennial into a true locker-room leader character, and it has been fun every step of the way. When Cassidy turns it on in the ring, he can keep up with any name in the business. But it was his 326-day run as AEW International Champion that truly put him on the map, making him one of the most important wrestlers during 2023.
Fast forward to the end of 2024, and Cassidy is one of the perfect options to stand up to Jon Moxley. Unfortunately, Cassidy will not be able to take the AEW World Championship from Moxley at AEW Full Gear, the booking is predictable enough for that. But this will at least be a fun match from start to finish. Fans would love the idea of Cassidy as the AEW Champion, but he seems to be one of those performers who is just a tier below those who are deemed “worthy” of being the champion.
Orange Cassidy is one of the many characters who found the perfect place to thrive in All Elite Wrestling. He’s a shining example of the variety show that professional wrestling is, and thankfully he’s given the space to be that full character in AEW. Doing so has benefited him and the organization as he’s become one of the most important performers in the promotion. Will he be able to defeat Jon Moxley for the title? Probably not, but his value will not take a hit along the way.
