Chad Gable, Damian Priest, and G1 Climax 34 news
There was a lot of action in professional wrestling over the weekend. WWE Clash at the Castle: Scotland featured several big matches, with some surprising outcomes. Of course, there was news about contracts, and even more. There’s a wealth of wrestling news to look forward to heading into the week of June 17.
Chad Gable re-signs with WWE
2024 is truly shaping up to be a big year for free agency in professional wrestling. Several names have jumped between AEW and WWE, with others moving to independent wrestling organizations to build their name. Chad Gable was one that everyone was watching closely. His contract reportedly ended on June 7, but he was booked to compete for WWE shows well after that. Gable confirmed that he re-signed with the company over the weekend.
“Yes, I have [signed a new contract,” Gable said while on the Gorilla Position podcast. “What I’ll say regarding Hunter [Triple H] is when he got started with us and took over, I think you saw my trajectory change almost immediately. To me, a light bulb went off, and it’s like, ‘Things might be different now,’ and they have been ever since.”
Damian Priest avoids potential injury
Damian Priest was in a scary spot during his match with Drew McIntyre. Priest’s foot was caught in the top rope and he was left suspended in a precarious position. Fans were concerned that he was seriously injured, as he sold his foot and ankle throughout the match. However, Fightful Select would report that expectations are that he was selling the situation and not injured.
“The initial word from backstage in WWE was that Damian Priest was fine and was effectively selling during the match. Priest received a lot of praise for his WWE Clash at the Castle performance,” Fightful reported on Sunday, June 16.
