Daniel Garcia should make the jump to WWE
All Elite Wrestling has a stacked roster with some of the best performers in the industry. Unfortunately, that means that every potential star may not get the opportunity to shine bright. Daniel Garcia has found himself in such a position and news has come out that his contract is set to expire in the Fall. Garcia is a talented performer and AEW should make the full-court press to keep him signed. But if he doesn’t re-sign, WWE would be an excellent place for the next steps in his career.
Garcia has experienced start-and-stop booking in All Elite Wrestling. There was a moment where it looked like he was poised to turn on Chris Jericho and chase him for the Ring of Honor Championship. That didn’t happen. He built momentum off an angle of losing nearly every match in the AEW Continental Classic. But that didn’t lead to anything either. Now, he’s written off television after an attack from MJF and his time in the company may be over.
Reports are that WWE has an interest in Garcia and that would be the right stance to take. He turns 26 this year and comes with seven years of experience. Not only does Garcia have that experience, but he comes in with an innate understanding of both professional wrestling and sports entertainment that almost can’t be taught. His catalog features several excellent matches and that list will only grow as time goes on.
Imagine Daniel Garcia in WWE NXT. Don’t roll your eyes at the idea but think of it as an opportunity for Garcia to learn the company’s style and go on a run. A run that would look a lot like what Ilja Dragunov did while in the brand. It was there that Dragunov further established himself as one of the best in the world, and Garcia could easily do something similar. There are so many potential “must-see” matches to make. Think about him against Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate, Wes Lee, Oba Femi, Axiom, Nathan Frazer, and several others. Don’t hesitate to throw in the potential main roster performer making the appearance on the brand to face him as well. Garcia has WWE NXT Champion written all over him and that would be the moment in the spotlight he deserves.
Daniel Garcia is a beloved figure on the AEW roster, but he has yet to get booking truly in the spotlight. If his contract does come to an end and he makes a move to WWE, he could have an exceptional run in NXT that would show the world he is truly ready to carry the top of the card.
