Professional wrestling is known for the captivating stories and characters that are on screen each week. While those are the topics that get a lot of attention, the stories that happen behind the scenes are frequently just as, if not more important. That is why the series Dark Side of the Ring is vital to professional wrestling and there’s a celebration that the show has received the go-ahead for a fifth season.

PW Insider reported that the show is scheduled to begin its fifth season launch in March of 2024. This comes after previous news that Vice filed for bankruptcy in 2023, causing many to think that the show would end after the fourth season.

The Canadian documentary series was started by Vice and first released back in April of 2019. Since then, it has shined a light on some of the most controversial stories that have occurred in wrestling when the cameras are facing another direction. This show has covered topics like Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth, The Von Erich family, the assassination of Dino Bravo and of course the Chris Benoit story that captured so much attention in 2020.

Dark Side of the Ring is a necessary part of the industry because it gives light to the parts of wrestling the most hardcore viewers want to know about, but it does it without the one-sided tilt that comes with promotions trying to tell these stories. While there is always a middle ground when it comes to “the truth,” it’s still important for groups like those behind Dark Side of the Ring to be in the space to give the closest iteration of the truth and the impact on those involved.

As of this news, there is no word on what topics will be covered in the fifth season. However, with its track record, there will certainly be some great conversations to come as more stories and documentaries are published.
