The Liv Morgan Revenge Tour is headed into its next phase. Rhea Ripley is back and the two women are barreling toward a showdown at SummerSlam in a few weeks. Dominick Mysterio is in tow, trying all he can to get his “Mami’s” love back. However, the writing on the wall is right there. Mysterio is going to turn on Ripley to cost her the revenge she’s now seeking.

Predictability has a place in professional wrestling. Building up to a major moment pays off, as fans can rally around to watch their favorite performer pick up a big win. There are several examples of when it was clear that a performer was going to take the win or how an angle would play out. Twist and turns are fun, but there’s value in giving fans what they want along the way.

When it comes to Morgan versus Ripley, the latter is the bigger star of the two, with larger fan reactions every time she’s on screen. But rewind the clock to when Ripley turned her back on Morgan, and then months later when she “injured” her shoulder, forcing Morgan off television for months. Breaking down the story as it is told, it is understandable why Morgan is chasing revenge.

This is why it is easy to predict that Mysterio is going to cost Ripley at SummerSlam. Ripley pulled Mysterio into Judgment Day, helping him find some semblance of success. Everything he’s obtained has been attributed to Ripley in some fashion. But what Morgan has done is plant the seeds in his head that he’s ready to stand on his own. That he’s his own man. With Morgan by his side, he finally defeated his father, Rey Mysterio, which was something he was never able to achieve with Ripley’s help. From a character standpoint, Mysterio is going to choose the woman who has made him feel like more of a winner.

Unfortunately for Mysterio, he’s getting played like a piano. He’s going to find himself on the wrong side of a Morgan turn. She truly doesn’t want him, but she’s rather out to hurt Ripley through him. She’ll get what she wants and leave Mysterio out the dry along the way. From Morgan’s point of view, it’s the perfect play and it is wrestling storytelling 101 to see how this is going to play out.

There will be individuals who love it. And there will be those that hate the booking direction. Especially since once again, the women’s championship on WWE Raw is wrapped into an angle surrounding the male gaze. Fans are raising several concerns with this storyline, which are worth discussing. Still, there’s a predictable nature of the angle that’s going to lead to a big moment at SummerSlam that everyone can see coming from a mile away.
