The night before ROH Death Before Dishonor, the main card has been finalized. The first two matches were announced just three weeks ago; Queen Aminata is challenging ATHENA for the ROH Women's Championship while Red Velvet will be challenging Billie Starkz for the Women's Television title. As I mentioned then, Starkz has yet to defend her title. She has had five Proving Ground matches since April.

Two days after those matches were announced, Roderick Strong defeated Dalton Castle to become the Number One contender for the World Championship. Strong and Briscoe have years of history in ROH.

Undisputed Kingdom already have gold with Matt Taven and Mike Bennett holding the tag titles. On Episode 74, a graphic was finally shown to announce their Death Before Dishonor match. They will be taking on members of The Conglomeration, Kyle O’Reilly and ISHII. Led by Strong, the Undisputed Kingdom have been trying to convince O’Reilly to join them. Last week, ISHII stepped up to save Orange Cassidy from a beatdown at the hands of the group.

I’ll come back to this match momentarily. Another match announced via graphic on Honor Club is a Six-Man Tag Team Championship Eliminator match. The winners will face the Undisputed Kingdom at Battle of the Belts XI on Saturday night. With this announcement, it appears that the Unified Trios Titles that the Bang Bang Gang won are no longer unified.

Stay with me here. On Collision two weeks ago, the Bang Bang Gang were stripped of their titles because of an injury to Jay White instead of allowing Juice Robinson to compete under Freebird Rules. On the following episode of Collision, the Bang Bang Gang (with Robinson) faced The Patriarchy for the vacant titles. Due to shenanigans, The Patriarchy won and became the Trios Champions, but apparently not the Unified Trios Champions.

Still with me? Good because it’s about to get more confusing. With the winners of the Death Before Dishonor Six-Man Eliminator match, it implies that Taven and Bennett will lose, as will Roderick Strong (unless they’re going to hold multiple titles). Assuming that O’Reilly and ISHII are the new tag team champions, we have a new issue. ISHII is scheduled to return to Japan in September. Another interesting twist is that MxM Collection (Mansoor & Mason Maddon) will make their ROH debuts on Zero Hour.

Now that the confusing stuff is out of the way, let’s talk about some other matches. On episode 71, Lee Moriarty defeated Wheeler Yuta in a fantastic eliminator match, thus earning a title shot. Earlier this week, Tony Khan announced via social media that Moriarty was finally getting his title shot at Death Before Dishonor, as expected.

Khan also used social media to announce Leyla Hirsch vs. Diamanté in a Texas Death Match. This is following their main event match last week that was an awesome Lights Out match. It’s a bit surprising that they’re doing another big stipulation match eight days later. Hooray three women’s matches and one that doesn’t revolve around a title.

In the middle of the night (4:26 AM ET to be exact), Khan announced a Survival of the Fittest match for the World Television title. Atlantis Jr. will face Shane Taylor, Lio Rush, Brian Cage, Johnny TV, and Lee Johnson.

While no matches have been announced for Zero Hour, one more match was announced via graphic. The Beast Mortos returns to Honor Club to face Komander. Mortos is coming off a great showing against Darby Allin on Collision. Komander was in a 10-man match on Episode 74.

On Thursday afternoon, Khan held his usual pre-pay-per-view media call. At the time, six matches had been announced. For those of us who watch Khan pay-per-views, we know that cards are packed full of matches, so six matches is atypical. I assumed more matches would be added during Episode 74, but asked him about only having six announced matches the day before a pay-per-view and what was his approach to this card. Khan said that injuries have played a factor, including White and Castle. Castle was supposed to have a match, but was injured in the match against Strong. Skye Blue’s injury on Collision affects both ROH & AEW. The injuries also affected the build.

Zero Hour will begin at 7 PM ET on ROH’s YouTube channel. Death Before Dishonor starts at 8 PM ET exclusively on Honor Club.
