ROH Six-Man Titles and AEW Trios Titles to be unified at AEW Dynasty
On AEW Dynamite, it was announced that the Bang Bang Gang would take on The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass at Dynasty. Each trios (or six-man) will put their respective titles on the line in a Winner Takes All match.
During Thursday's media call, Tony Khan confirmed that the ROH Six-Man titles and the Trios titles will be unified following the match's conclusion. The match will take place on Zero Hour.
The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass have been feuding with Bullet Club Gold after the failed Bang Bang Scissor Gang experiment. It started out fun and quickly lost its charm and has overstayed it's welcome.
Bang Bang Gang won the Six-Men titles off of The Embassy (Brian Cage and Gates of Agony) on Dynamite back in January. They defended them several times, but only on AEW programming.
At Supercard of Honor, Bang Bang Gang finally defended their Six-Man titles on Honor Club for the first time. After sucessfully defeating MonsterSauce (Lance Archer and Alex Zayne) and Minoru Suzuki, they were attacked by the Trios champions.
The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass won the Trios titles last August at ALL IN at Wembley when they defeated House of Black. On Sunday, they will have been champions for 239 days.
The Trios titles have an interesting history. They were created specifically for The Elite (Young Bucks and Kenny Omega) and they waited for Omega to return from injury before crowning them as inaugural champions. Unfortunately they only held them for three days because of Brawl Out. They were stripped of their titles when they were suspended.
On the day that the titles were vacated, there was a match between Death Triangle (Penta El Zero Miedo, Rey Fénix, and PAC) and Best Friends (Trent Beretta and Chuck Taylor) and Orange Cassidy. Death Triangle became the second champions and held the titles for 126 days.
The Elite would get the Trios titles back at the end of a Best-of-Seven series with Death Triangle. The feud came to a head with the Escalera De La Muerte match with The Elite finally getting a proper title reign. It only lasted 53 days.
House of Black won the titles at REVOLUTION 2023 and held them for 175 days until ALL IN. The titles haven't been around long, but have an interesting history. I think Bang Bang Gang wins and becomes the inaugral champions with the unified titles. Although the titles will technically have the Six-Man titles, I don't see them being defend on Honor Club often, if at all.
To watch the match, Zero Hour will air live on AEW's YouTube channel, Twitter/X, and Facebook. The show begins at 6:30 PM ET with Dynasty starting at 8 PM ET.
