WWE needs to flesh out the midcard for the women on the main roster

It has been long overdue for WWE to flesh out a midcard title for the women on the main roster.

As the WWE continues to pay more attention to an improved women's division, there is always still room to grow. We're amid two intriguing storylines in the women's division on the main roster on both Monday Night Raw and Friday Night Smackdown. Whether it's Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley fighting over "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, or the long-term build to an eventual Money In The Bank cash-in from Tiffany Stratton on her bestie Nia Jax -- there are actual storylines in the women's division.

Another sign we're trending in the right direction for women's wrestling in WWE was the creation of the NXT Women's North American Championship back in the spring. Current champion Kelani Jordan has done a great job elevating a new title on the developmental brand and has set a good example for what is to come on the main roster.

It is time for WWE to flesh out a women's midcard title on the main roster

With WWE NXT providing the blueprint of how to build a women's midcard title, it is time for the main roster to follow suit. Every week there are so many women that go through a show either underutilized or in some cases not used at all. Other than the two storylines mentioned earlier in this piece, what other storylines are there on the main roster in the women's division? Michin and Jax have a WWE Women's Championship match on Smackdown this week, but not at Bash in Berlin. Morgan and Ripley are facing each other in a mixed tag team match at Bash in Berlin. This means the upcoming PLE will have one women's championship match with the Women's Tag Team title match.

Once again, another PLE that doesn't includes just six women total, and four of them are in one match. Much of what makes NXT so enticing to watch every Tuesday, is the quality booking of the women's division. For whatever reason, the main roster doesn't do the same.

Smackdown's roster features women like Michin, Chelsea Green, Piper Niven, Indi Hartwell, Candice LeRae, Blair Davenport, Elektra Lopez, Naomi, B-Fab, and Tegan Nox that all either go unused every week or have a 3-minute segment on television. Raw does slightly better with their roster, but talents like Kiana James, Ivy Nile, Natalya, and Zelina Vega are hardly used.

It almost appears we're more on the path for a women's trio title than a midcard. Which would make no sense at all. The women's tag team division is already booked inconsistently. Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre (The Unholy Union) have hardly been on television since becoming the champions at Clash at the Castle. The last thing WWE needs is another women's tag title that forces random women superstars to become partners to create a trio. Not to mention, some of the names WWE has been coming up with have been lackluster (Pure Fusion Collective).

Some say that WWE doesn't need more titles and that it won't solve WWE's problems with booking the women's division. The simple response to those who feel that way is more titles equals more storylines -- it's really that simple. Again, look at the current landscape on NXT. Instead of all of the focus being on NXT Women's Champion Roxanne Perez' upcoming match against Jaida Parker at No Mercy, there will also be another title match for the NXT Women's North American title between Kelani Jordan and Wendy Choo. Choo and Jordan's feud has been building for quite a while now since Choo's return to the ring.

Once the main roster fleshes out the women's midcard title it'll enhance the women's division as much as it has for NXT. Not to mention, eventually, the women currently on NXT need to be moved to the main roster. A midcard title coming soon would help prevent future call-ups from being completely washed away like James (Kiana) has been since she was drafted to Raw earlier this year. It is long overdue, it is time for the main roster to pull the trigger and flesh out a women's midcard title.
