Rob Van Dam was one of the most popular performers during his time. Even today, he still elicits a loud response from fans any time he pops up on television. However, he may no longer be the most popular person in his own home, as he and Katie Forbes announced they are expecting a child in 2026.
“Life is interesting. We lost Sabu recently, and I feel like a big part of me was lost. He created me, he helped make me who I am,” Van Dam said while speaking to Only Wrestlers.com. “The universe has a funny way of balancing out. He’s on the other side now, but…”
He’d “tag-in” Forbes who’d announce that they are pregnant and expecting the baby in 2026.

Rob Van Dam and Sabu had an iconic run as a tag team
The Sabu that Van Dam mentioned was Terry Brunk, the famed performer who passed on May 11. Together, Van Dam and Sabu were one of the best teams during the late 90s and early 00s. Together they’d win the ECW World Tag Team Championship twice, while elevating Van Dam to a run as the ECW World Television Champion and eventually the ECW Heavyweight Champion.
Sabu was a multiple-time champion as well. Winning the ECW World Heavyweight Championship three times and the ECW Television Championship once. He also held titles in other organizations like NWA and New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Brunk passed just a few short days after his final match against Joey Janela at GCW Joey Janela’s Spring Break 9.
Rob Van Dam still makes sporadic appearances in the ring. On April 5, he was involved in the MLW 40-Man Battle Riot for the MLW World Heavyweight Title. In 2024, he took several matches, including a series in AEW, where he faced off against Swerve Strickland while teaming with others like Hook and Adam Page.
