The October 27 edition of WWE Monday Night Raw featured a match between Roxanne Perez and Nikki Bella. This was a match that Perez wanted as a child and here they were in 2025 battling it out. While nearly two decades separate these two performers, Perez once again showed that she’s one of the best workers in the business. But the discussion should start to shift to another idea: Roxanne Perez is the future of women’s wrestling.
As of this writing, Roxanne Perez is one week away from her 24th birthday. She’s spent 40 percent of her life in professional wrestling. In that time, she’s claimed some of the top championships in the industry, most importantly being the first Ring of Honor Women’s Champion and a two-time WWE NXT Women’s Champion.
But this discussion is about more than holding titles. This is more about who Perez can be both currently and long-term within professional wrestling.
Roxanne Perez will be the force to lead the next generation of women's wrestling
Across generations of wrestling, there are performers who stand out among the rest. Some will think of names like John Cena, Hulk Hogan, or Stone Cold Steve Austin. But there are names in the women’s division who deserve that same consideration. Think about what The Four Horsewomen have done in wrestling. Charlotte Flair, Mercedes Mone, Bayley, and Becky Lynch helped turn the tide for women’s wrestling. Many will point to The Bella Twins and AJ Lee as other icons who paved the way for those who came after them. Roxanne Perez has the potential to be someone who will etch their name on similar lists in the future.
There’s nothing that Perez can’t do. She came into the business and the WWE playing the loveable babyface. Many questioned the creative direction of Shawn Michaels when he pushed her into her heel persona, but she’s rocked that, going on a great run to close out her NXT tenure and fitting in perfectly within Judgement Day.
Perez can be trusted to work with any performer in the ring. When given the opportunity, she’s put on some excellent showcases. Look at her matches against Jordynne Grace, Thea Hail, and Meiko Satomura in NXT as examples. Want some others outside of WWE? Track down her matches against Trish Adora, Killer Kelly, and the match against Miranda Alize to win the ROH Women’s Championship in 2021. Perez can go, and she’s going to only continue growing those skills in the years to come.
Roxanne Perez is one of those performers who every promotion needs to make a bid on when her services are available. There’s no telling how much remains on her contract, but she’s a talent that WWE will certainly work to lock in for as long as possible. If they don’t, expect the bidding war to be a big deal. Any company leadership with the right mind would do all they can to sign Perez; she’s that good of a talent who will have an impact wherever she goes.
Roxanne Perez is one of the best young wrestlers in business today. Not only that, but she’s someone who will set the tone for the future of women’s wrestling. She’s that good.
