Many WWE fans' favorite premium live event is right around the corner with the Royal Rumble taking place this Saturday live from Lucas Oil Stadium. The Royal Rumble is always full of surprises and this year appears to be no different.

This is one of the most highly anticipated Rumbles in recent memory with its star-studded lineup and hard-to-predict nature. There are several WWE superstars who could win both the men's and the women's Royal Rumble, all leading up to a PLE that is truly capturing fans' imagination.

To further add to the hype and anticipation for Saturday's PLE, Stephanie McMahon appeared on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Thursday to talk all things WWE with the Monday Night RAW commentator. During her appearance, Stephanie did her best job of selling the upcoming PLE and added even more speculation about the surprises that could come.

Stephanie McMahon teases big surprises at WWE's Royal Rumble

McMahon did save herself some by saying there she did not know about any surprises and if she did that she would not be allowed to say. But when you are married to the chief creative officer, even if you are not in the day-to-day weeds, you probably know a thing or two about what is going to happen.

This is not the first time a notable person in the WWE orbit has mentioned the surprises that could be in store on Saturday night. When asked by Jackie Redmond which superstar he wanted to see in the women's Royal Rumble, CM Punk said, "there's a big one I'm not going to say because I'm going to get in trouble."

Hmm. If only there was a big-name women's wrestler who fans have been yearning to return to WWE for years who also so happens to be married to CM Punk. By the way, whatever happened to A.J. Lee?

All jokes aside, WWE has become very intentional with their marketing of events and what they say to the media and how they say it. It has become the most effective way for WWE to get a message across and to build anticipation around upcoming events.

It is not a coincidence that multiple notable people in the WWE orbit have mentioned big surprises ahead of Saturday's PLE. This is WWE's way of building anticipation without giving away too much. Creating a surprise that is also expected.

What could those surprises be? Well, fans will have to find out on Saturday. But in just reading the tea leaves, there should be some big moments at this year's Rumble.
