Fightful Select reported on June 21 that “Austin hasn’t necessarily closed the door on a return to the ring but hasn’t been eager to jump in the ring either.”
Austin last appeared at WrestleMania 38, where he took on Kevin Owens. That was his first match since WrestleMania 19 way back in 2003 when The Rock defeated him. The Fightful report goes on to say that around WrestleMania 41 weekend, Austin told a source that he “might have one more in him.” The claim is that he was open to the idea of taking on another match under the “right circumstances.” CM Punk is one of the names who was mentioned as a potential opponent for Austin.

Kevin Owens proved himself to be the perfect opponent for Steve Austin back at WrestleMania 38. Owens is a talented professional in the ring who knows how to guide the 57-year-old performer through the match. It was a fun “walk-and-brawl” that lasted just under 15 minutes, more than enough to deliver as a main event for the PLE.
