Frank the Tank once said, “I’ll do one,” and it looks like Stone Cold Steve Austin is going to follow in his footsteps. At least when it comes to professional wrestling. According to Fightful Select, Austin has left the idea of taking on more matches open. This is some interesting news as Austin remains one of the biggest stars available in pro wrestling and sports entertainment.

Fightful Select reported on June 21 that “Austin hasn’t necessarily closed the door on a return to the ring but hasn’t been eager to jump in the ring either.”

Austin last appeared at WrestleMania 38, where he took on Kevin Owens. That was his first match since WrestleMania 19 way back in 2003 when The Rock defeated him. The Fightful report goes on to say that around WrestleMania 41 weekend, Austin told a source that he “might have one more in him.” The claim is that he was open to the idea of taking on another match under the “right circumstances.” CM Punk is one of the names who was mentioned as a potential opponent for Austin.

These are three perfect opponents for a match against Stone Cold Steve Austin

Kevin Owens proved himself to be the perfect opponent for Steve Austin back at WrestleMania 38. Owens is a talented professional in the ring who knows how to guide the 57-year-old performer through the match. It was a fun “walk-and-brawl” that lasted just under 15 minutes, more than enough to deliver as a main event for the PLE. If Austin is going to return at 60 years old, here are some examples of wrestlers who could take on the role that Owens had back in 2022.

Sami Zayn is someone who immediately jumps off the page. He makes sense as a recommendation because he and Owens are looked at as two of the most complete workers on the WWE roster. Look what he did against Johnny Knoxville during that same WrestleMania 38 weekend. Zayn was already a beloved performer, but it was that match that truly set him on the course to potentially become a main event performer.

Damian Priest is a well-respected member of the WWE roster. He was trusted to work with one of the biggest celebrities in the world, Bad Bunny, and he did so successfully on two occasions. Their San Juan Street Fight back at Backlash 2023 was a huge moment for WWE. Priest would be a great choice to work with Austin for a big match in the future.

Seth Rollins is another easy choice as a potential opponent for Steve Austin. Many see Rollins as the best performer on the WWE roster. Rollins versus Austin would be a massive affair worthy of a prime spot on a WrestleMania card. He has the skills to lead Austin through the match, plus he’s currently the top heel in the promotion, which would be another interesting story worth exploring.

Stone Cold Steve Austin may be a star from another generation, but fans still give him the biggest reactions. If he’s interested in returning for more matches, WWE has several names on the roster who would be perfect opponents for the Hall of Famer.
