John Cena’s final match in WWE will be held at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13. In anticipation of that, a tournament was announced to determine his final opponent dubbed “The Last Time is Now Tournament”. Some of the wrestlers participating were revealed to the fans, as well as some of the matchups. But there was one matchup where only one wrestler was revealed. LA Knight will be wrestling in the tournamenton the November 14 episode of Friday Night SmackDown. However, his opponent was kept secret by SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis. Lots of fans have ideas as to who the mystery person will be. Here are three wrestlers that could face Knight in the tournament on Friday.
Carmelo Hayes Would Be a Great Choice
For the past several weeks, Carmelo Hayes has been involved in a fierce rivalry with The Miz. Every time he wants an opportunity for something, Miz is there to take it all away from him. It’s clear these two will have a match at some point. Looking at the bracket, Miz is wrestling on Friday against Jey Uso. The winner of that match will face the winner of LA Knight vs. the mystery man. Having Hayes be the surprise could work in his favor. If he is in the tournament and beats Knight, and Miz pulls off a shock upset against Jey, they will face each other in the next round. Miz is looking for every reason to get a match in with Hayes. Making him the mystery person could potentially add another chapter to their story.
Joe Hendry Could Be a Surprise Entrant
When it was announced that people from other companies would be in the tournament, a lot of fans immediately thought of Hendry. He’s super over in TNA and in NXT whenever he makes appearances for the brand. He had a WrestleMania match with Randy Orton when he was TNA Champion. Just like LA Knight, his catchphrase and overall character make him special and unique. Unless something changes, he's more than likely WWE bound whenever his TNA contract runs out. If he is in the tournament and impresses management, his NXT days might be limited. Showing that he can go with major talent could land him straight on the main roster when he makes the jump. A Hendry appearance could add to his always growing star power.
Ethan Page Fits Perfectly as the Mystery Man
Since debuting in NXT last year, Page has impressed everyone. He has shown that he can be athletic, engaging with the crowd, and capable of being champion. He’s currently double champion, holding the NXT North American Championship and AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship with Chelsea Green. His partnership with Green has been very successful, which could lead to a main roster appearance. There’s a realistic chance that Green could’ve persuaded Aldis to put him in the tournament. Even though her relationship with him is strained at times, she wants the best for Page and Alba Fyre. Making Page the mystery man would be a great representation of NXT while also furthering his storyline with Green.
