Tiffany Stratton's championship reign needs to come to an end

It's time for someone else to step up and take the Women's Championship from Tiffany Stratton.

For months, the SmackDown Women's Division has run through Tiffany Stratton. The WWE Universe was shocked when she defeated Charlotte Flair to retain her WWE Women's Championship at WrestleMania, but little did they know that was just the beginning of her championship reign.

At the time of writing, Stratton has been champion for 287 days. Closing in on 300, January 3, 2026, would mark one year as champion. Remember, Stratton won her first main-roster championship thanks to her Money in the Bank cash-in on Nia Jax.

Throughout everything, Stratton has remained the focal point of Friday Night SmackDown. While she's nearing one year as champion, her reign has grown incredibly stale. Having defended the title nine times, four of those involved Nia Jax. Other than random matches with Bayley, Charlotte, and Trish Stratus, she's exclusively faced Jax and Jade Cargill.

Cargill, who seemed like the likely person to dethrone Stratton at Summerslam, came up short. In return, she received another pair of title shots on SmackDown, but failed to win either of them. At this point, WWE seemingly has no idea who is going to dethrone Stratton.

Is Bianca Belair's Return Holding Things Up?

Halfway through October, Bianca Belair hasn't had a match since WrestleMania 41. Granted, her triple threat with Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley was one of the best in WWE history, her absence has been felt. Belair was part of a huge story with Jade and Naomi, and her Elimination Chamber win proved that WWE still sees her as a main event-level talent.

Clearly, they now see Stratton in that position. While Stephanie Vaquer left Crown Jewel as the winner of the champion vs. champion match, that takes nothing away from what Stratton has done as champion. The 26-year-old is doing everything in her power to hold onto that championship, and rightfully so.

That said, what is WWE waiting for? If they weren't going to put the title on Jade, why did they bulid her up so much in the first place? Stratton's reign has run its course, and they continue to go back to a Nia Jax feud that no one cares about. There are plenty of women on the roster who could use a title shot, but WWE isn't even letting those wrestlers fight for Giulia's United States Championship.

At this point, it seems like Stratton is going to hold the title until WrestleMania. That likely won't go over well with the WWE Universe, but they're stuck with this dominant SmackDown champion who WWE has been adamant about keeping the title on.
