There have been a lot of champions crowned in WWE this year and a ton of belts introduced into the company. With the TNA partnership and AAA acquisition, there have been many opportunities for wrestlers to become double champion. Some wrestlers have taken that opportunity and ran with it.

Jacy Jayne was simultaneously NXT Women’s Champion and TNA Knockouts Champion. Sol Ruca was NXT Women’s North American Champion and Women’s Speed Champion. Currently Chelsea Green and Ethan Page are Women’s United States Champion and NXT North American Champion while being AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions. Will anyone else join that list?

Tony D’Angelo returned in incredible fashion at the end of NXT Deadline last Saturday. He simultaneously made enemies of both Oba Femi and Je’Von Evans. It seemed like him vs. Femi for the NXT Championship was confirmed. However, some unexpected developments rocked last Tuesday's NXT. Evans faced Femi for the NXT Championship, while D’Angelo went after Ethan Page and the NXT North American Championship.

D’Angelo going after, and potentially winning, both championships should happen for several reasons. Him going after Page was surprising at the time, but now it makes sense. He became NXT North American Champion on October 8, 2024 and held it until March 4, 2025, which was a 147 day reign. It was his very first singles title in NXT, as he had held the NXT Tag Team Championships with Stacks. Winning it for the second time would make him only the fourth multi time NXT North American Champion in NXT history.

It’s clear that many men have a lot of eyes on the NXT Championship. Evans lost on Tuesday, and given what happened, he’ll want another title shot very soon. Ricky Saints was the reason why Evans lost, and he has many issues with Femi. A fatal four way match to determine Femi’s challenger will take place on next Tuesday’s NXT. The winner of that match will face him at New Year’s Evil. D’Angelo is definitely on the list of challengers, but isn’t a concern for Femi right now.

That could help D’Angelo in the long run. If Femi retains at New Year’s Evil and faces Saints at Vengeance Day, that means two more successful title retentions. Each time he defends his title, it’ll become harder for him to retain. D’Angelo can come in during Spring Breakin’ or Stand and Deliver and win it for himself. He’ll also be extra motivated for a big reason. He’s never won the NXT Championship in the five years he’s been in NXT, which is something that is probably weighing on his mind.

D’Angelo should definitely challenge for both the NXT North American Championship and NXT Championship. The very first singles championship that he won in NXT was the North American Championship. Oba Femi was the guy that he beat for the North American Championship last October. These two are very familiar with each other, which is why he first confronted Femi. Winning both championships will make him regain the first singles championship he ever won while also getting another victory against a fierce rival.
