Trick Williams believes the main roster call is coming "sometime soon"

Trick Williams is a popular performer in WWE NXT, but there are a lot of questions if that momentum will follow him to the main roster.

WWE NXT is packed with talent. Several new and veteran names could be featured in the main event. One such performer is the two-time WWE NXT Champion, Trick Williams. He’s a personality that has taken NXT by storm and one that some believe could do the same on the main roster. Now that he’s dropped the title to another surging performer in Oba Femi, Williams thinks it may be time for him to make a move to the main roster. Perhaps, but that comes with tumultuous waters as well.

“I’m very confident. I think it has to be soon,” Williams said while speaking on Tailgate Talks. “I’ve been very blessed, very fortunate. For the career that I wish I had in football, I got it tenfold with my wrestling career. I’m grateful for that. When it comes to NXT, there is not much better than the Trick Williams experience as NXT goes. With that being said, I would like to think the main roster call to be sometime soon.”

Trick Williams on the main roster is an interesting prospect. He’s made some surprise appearances on both Monday Night Raw and SmackDown, receiving loud praise from fans followed by the “Whoop That Trick” chant. Williams is over in NXT and looks to have the potential to get over on the main roster. But a big question is “will the opportunity be there as it is on NXT?”

Both Raw and SmackDown have crowded rosters. Everyone doesn’t get featured the way their fans think they should, and even more aren’t picking up the momentum they should have. Individuals like Carmelo Hayes and Andrade feel like second-tier performers on SmackDown, when they have much more to offer that show. Where would Williams fit when it comes time for him to show up on the main roster?

There’s another question which has plagued WWE for much of the last two years. Triple H continues to face criticism that he’s not featuring Black male talent as singles performers. The thought of it erupted a volatile online conversation a few months ago, but not much has changed since then. Some loud voices declared “wait for Trick Williams to get to the main roster.” But is there really much hope that his presence will change much? That’s a lot of weight for one performer to carry while eyes will be on how he’s used once he does hit the main roster.

Williams has only four years of experience under his belt. While he’s picked up the entertainment part of sports entertainment quickly, his in-ring still leaves a lot to be desired. One could say that it works for how WWE presents its action, but even this promotion is slowly moving toward featuring those who can carry their own weight in the ring. Williams needs a bit more time before he becomes one of those talents.

Trick Williams is an excellent WWE NXT performer. He’s connected with that fan base and is understandably one of the most popular performers on the show. There are a lot of questions whether that momentum will follow him when he hits the main roster. At some time, everyone will find out, and here’s to hoping that it works out well for the young star.
