WWE finished its European tour with the March 31 episode of Monday Night Raw. During the episode, fans were gifted the surprise return of Tyler Bate. He and Pete Dunne reformed the New Catch Republic and they took on The New Day. Even though Bate and Dunne were defeated, fans should hope to see more of Bate as he’s one of the best, young performers in professional wrestling.
Monday’s match was Bate’s first acting since July 2024 when he suffered a pectoral tear during an NXT match. At 28 years old, Bate must be recognized as one of the top talents in the world, regardless of his age. He’s not one who gets a lot of airtime in the debate about who is the best performer in the business, but his track record has a lot of evidence supporting the idea.
Take this fact into account. Bate picked up his first WWE title run when he defeated Dunne to become the inaugural WWE United Kingdom Champion on January 15, 2017. Nearly a decade ago, he and Dunne were 19 and 22 years old respectively at the time. Back then, they were tabbed as two names to watch and that has come to fruition nearly a decade later. Both men have picked up titles along the way, but WWE has two performers who could be main event talents if given the opportunity to rise to that occasion.
Tyler Bate’s potential on the main roster
Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of hope of how far Bate will rise up the roster. He has all the talent in the world, and fans are already behind him, but that’s a tale that’s told about several stars who do not get ample television time or opportunity on the main roster. Bate would be a perfect addition to the midcard on either Raw or SmackDown. Think about Bate against the likes of Bron Breakker, Penta, Rey Fenix, Andrade, LA Knight, and others. There are great matches to have.
There’s opportunity in the tag team division as well. WWE has left the tag division and the titles fall to the wayside, but there seems to be a push to get momentum behind the champions of both shows. Will that continue? Only time will tell. But New Catch Republic would be a great addition to a stacked roster with several great teams on it. And then there’s always the story to tell between Bate and Dunne, but that would best be served with a championship on the line.
Tyler Bate is back and fans are excited. He’s one of the top workers in the business, and hopefully he will get the opportunity to show off his stuff more often as a part of the WWE Raw roster.
