The WWE Universe has been going without the Bray Wyatt lore for around a year now, as his brother Bo and the Wyatt faction have been missing from television. On SmackDown, that hiatus ended in honor of the late great Bray Wyatt's birthday, but where do the Wyatt Sicks go now? The faction has, in their limited run, been far more involved in world-building, a tribute in itself to Bray's creative dedication. Their debut put them in a more conventional spot for a team. That may mean a shift is underway or that it was just a significant return angle to reintroduce the group. Then, there is always the unfortunate fact that their return was in tribute to an icon, and their absence is slated to resume for some time.

The Wyatt Sicks may be looking for championship gold

The entire SmackDown tag team division took a beating from the Sicks, possibly to put the division on notice that Uncle Howdy is hungry for some titles around the waists of his new crew. The SmackDown tag teams are often a highlight for the blue brand, putting the Raw side to shame in both depth and featured time. When a division that has gotten so much attention is taken out by one faction, it should be notable. Additionally, when a wrestler or group returns, their target is usually whoever will be feuding with them next. The most recent return indicates strongly that the Wyatts are in the tag team title hunt.

Whenever a Wyatt went for a title, it usually felt off. In intensely personal feuds, it worked, taking the title away from an enemy. Most other times, though, it was always hard to book a force of nature with a lofty vision as being interested in a wrestling championship. If the Wyatt Sicks go for those titles, then that issue will almost certainly resurface. Also, while it may be the most obvious path for them, it doesn't feel like something they would do. Their path has been one of grief and vengeance. Without any substantial issues with any of the tag teams involved in that closing segment, it would be a major departure from what the group debuted to do.

The Sicks may return to settle old scores

The original premise of the Sicks was to exercise grief, anger, and disappointment and to act against those who betray the ones they ought to love. It was an interesting premise and feels where the characters are best suited to remain. As dominant as that return looked, it may have been carnage to make an impact before returning to their usual targets. Who exactly that might be is still to be determined, but a real feud with stakes and a connection to Wyatt or their stated mission would ultimately feel like the best use of their return, even if that isn't clear yet.

Braun Strowman has been released and is seemingly only working on appearances for the company. Alexa Bliss is on SmackDown but has already been slotted in the title hunt, which WWE desperately needs as the primary players have started to feel played out in that division. Without those two, there isn't much that Wyatt Sicks can do with old "rivals" on the blue brand. Raw has more options, but it remains to be seen which show they ultimately land on or how a draft might play into that.

A creative decline leaves Bo Dallas on the bench

It isn't uncommon to hear a vocal segment of the WWE Universe unhappy with the quality and overall vibe of the product right now. While the scope of that decline can be debated, it is becoming a growing consensus in the virtual space, if not in the live audiences.

No matter how many things change with WWE, the company is fundamentally addicted to nostalgia and traditions. The Wyatt Sicks just coming out to celebrate Bray and give the live fans a fitting tribute could easily be the entire point of the segment. Social media posts after the segment tell a different story, but Bray and Bo both worked social media to expand and enhance their prior stories even without a character. The birthday cake and candle in the ring add even more credibility to this idea.

The Wyatt-verse has always had detractors, folks who find it too high-minded for a WWE product. The process of simplifying WWE, from characters to schedules, is well underway. Those efforts are why so many of the aforementioned fans are upset right now. Reintroducing a Wyatt program while the rest of the company looks to become a scripted branch of UFC and focus on spectacle over story could be an odd decision. Variety has always been the strength of WWE's brand, though, so they can try both. However, if they don't fit into the new direction, they shouldn't be surprised if the group leaves again.

Looking to where The Wyatt Sicks might actually go now

If the Sicks are really back, then a combination of paths can be traveled. The tag team division involved in the melee on SmackDown all have an interesting connection. Fraxiom has flirted with a breakup on NXT; DIY were rivals in WWE in a legendary feud. The newly acquired Motor City Machine Guns have decades of story with one another, and the Street Profits have always had a "Rockers vibe," With Montez Ford being the star. That hasn't just been debated online but is somewhat mentioned on the screen and is even a point of contention. The simmering jealousy and past rivalries between the eight men involved in the title scene could all be ripe for exploration. Other teams like MizMelo could also easily be slotted into a Wyatt-based tag team skirmish on Friday nights. A mentally masterful Bo Dallas can pick at those insecurities as fake, testing the teams beyond anything they have seen before. Some may break, but one manages to fight through the psychological torment stronger for it.
