WrestleMania 41 is fifteen days away. The excitement is palpable for the biggest show of the year. As of April 4, seven matches are announced for the two-night event. Looking at the current landscape of both Monday Night Raw and SmackDown, here are three additional matches potentially coming to WrestleMania 41.
The New Day versus The Viking Raiders
The New Day had one of the hottest angles going in professional wrestling. Unfortunately, that story lost a lot of momentum in the weeks and months that followed. The New Day is one of the most important factions in professional wrestling history, yet Triple H hasn’t leveraged this current run to its fullest fashion.
Still, they’ve reached a level where they are set to challenge for the WWE World Tag Team Championship, taking on the current holders in The Viking Raiders. This should be an interesting story, because it was multiple losses to Erik and Ivar that could be used as the starting point for the issues Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston were having. This is a match that should be on WrestleMania because these four men would deliver excellent tag-team wrestling action.
Damien Priest versus Drew McIntyre
Damien Priest and Drew McIntyre are two former champions who’ve fallen outside the title picture but are still seen as big deals in the grand scheme of things. Their feud starts back at The Royal Rumble and should come to a head at WrestleMania. Things escalated on a recent episode of SmackDown, as Priest put McIntyre through the front window of a parked car. Damien Priest versus Drew McIntyre doesn’t need to be an epic, 30-minute match on the PLE. But if WWE needs another strong match to fill out the card, this would be a decent option.
Women’s Midcard Title Match
WWE, namely Triple H, has not done much to beat back the apprehension fans had about the introduction of the Women’s United States and Women’s Intercontinental Championships. Months later and neither title has been involved in anything of substance on either Raw or SmackDown. Whether it is a multi-woman match to defend a title, or a surprise opponent, Chelsea Green and Lyra Valkyria and the titles they carry should be on this show.
