WWE Evolution 2025 needs to be an annual PLE

WWE Evolution 2025 was a strong show from start to finish. The women deserve to have an annual showcase for the division.

WWE stacked the weekend with shows in an attempt to counterprogram AEW All In 2025. Did they succeed? Not by a long shot, but that doesn’t mean the weekend was a complete waste in any sense. The women on the WWE roster put on an amazing card with WWE Evolution 2025. If it wasn’t clear already, Sunday’s PLE put an exclamation point on the opinion that Evolution needs to be an annual event. The women on the roster deserve it.

The overall reaction to WWE Evolution 2025 has been overwhelmingly positive. Everyone from Naomi, Rhea Ripley, and IYO Sky down through the bottom of the card are getting love from fans and colleagues alike for their performance Sunday evening.

“Let’s please not wait another 7 years to do this,” Big E said during the Evolution post-show.

That statement is as resounding as it is simple. There is no reason other than misogyny in professional wrestling to explain why this took so long to come together. Across all three brands, WWE boasts a stacked roster of ladies. However, those women typically do not get the same booking opportunities that the men enjoy. Time is cut. Storylines are few and far between. Challengers aren’t developed beyond two to three names.

The depth is there, but the push behind the women on the main roster just isn’t there. This is especially frustrating when looking at how well the women’s division is booked on WWE NXT. The ladies continue to thrive with multiple storylines and often have more matches than the men’s division. This led to reports of frustration with how the women are being booked on Monday Night Raw and SmackDown. There are no excuses for this situation. As the leader of the WWE creative team, Triple H hasn’t shown any interest in correcting the issue.

Even when asked about it becoming an annual show during the post-show press conference, all Triple H could offer as an answer was "We shall see." As WWE continues to throw cards on the calendar, almost oversaturating the market, it is sad to see them still be non-committal to a card for the women's division.

Making WWE Evolution an annual card would be a big deal for women’s wrestling

The booking of the women’s divisions across most major promotions isn’t the best. Fans of All Elite Wrestling still plead for the ladies to get more than one match on the main shows. TNA Wrestling has a stronger showing, but on a much smaller platform. Then there are all the issues highlighted within WWE. Announcing an annual all-women’s showcase would be a great way to earn some positive PR at a time when the company firmly needs some.

Plus, this would be a show that creates an opportunity for the WWE to build more stars. A company like WWE can never have enough crossover attractions in the company, but the time to build them isn’t made for the women. With an improved build compared to the 2025 show, the years to follow would have a better impact.

While WWE Evolution 2025 may not have moved a large amount of tickets, the women still showed up and showed out. WWE should make the effort to turn this PLE into an annual showcase. The division deserves it and needs it in more ways than one.
