WWE Raw vignette potentially hints to Pentagon
The December 16 episode of Monday Night Raw featured a vignette where a red zero was marked over with a slash. It was a sign that left some wondering what it may mean, but for those tapped into the wrestling community, it was clear this is a sign for the wrestler known as Pentagon or better yet, Penta El Zero Miedo.
Kenny Omega once described Penta as “that crazy guy from Mexico” and while that is accurate, it is also not the totality of the man who is one of the most recognizable luchadores in the business today.
With 16 years in professional wrestling, Penta has been one of the top names in Mexico and one of the top representatives of Mexican wrestling around the world. He’s stepped into some of the most important promotions in wrestling including AAA, PWG, TNA, and most recently All Elite Wrestling. It was perhaps his run on Lucha Underground that put him on the map, where he was booked as an uber-heel who destroyed many on his way. Go back to watch his match against Chelsea Green for a ridiculously over example of intergender wrestling at the time.
Along with Rey Fenix, The Lucha Brothers as they were called, captured titles in several companies. Pentagon was not only considered one of the best singles performers from Mexico, but he and Fenix were among the top tag teams in the industry as well.
Now, he seems to be WWE-bound. Fightful Select reported on December 1 that Penta’s deal with AEW was “set to be up soon” and that he was a free agent. The report also mentioned that Penta had been in contact with WWE. This was a controversial situation on social media, as the parts involving Fenix have become even messier in the following weeks.
Penta would be an interesting addition to the WWE roster. He would be a nice surprise for the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble, which always needs a big pop or two. The feud between Pentagon and Rey Mysterio is right there for the taking. From 2015 to 2018 they battled each other across several Mexican promotions. According to Cagematch, Mysterio holds the advantage over Penta, winning 10 of their 14 matches. That alone is enough to kick off a major angle for Monday Night Raw.
Keep an eye out for more cryptic messages on Raw heading into the Royal Rumble. Fans should be interested in what is to come. There’s “Zero Fear” for who is coming through the curtain.
