At 7:42 AM Eastern Standard Time, WWE posted a cryptic video of someone walking toward the camera for less than 20 seconds. That video created a rise of speculation on who that could be. Is it a current star? Is someone coming back from injury? A returning performer? A new name signed to WWE? Fans took to social media to guess who this person could be and what it could mean for the main roster.

The wild speculation was alive and well on Sunday morning. Fans guessed that this video meant the return of GUNTHER. The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion has been off television since SummerSlam 2025, where he dropped the title to CM Punk after a half-hour match.
The timing of this video would make sense, as reports are that Gunther is set to be John Cena’s final opponent. With that December 13 match looming, coming back in early November would give WWE plenty of time to heat the former champion up for that spot on the card.
Who did #WWE tease in that new video?

Some folks online even took to analyzing the individual’s walk to determine that this video signals a returning Chris Jericho. Now, anyone familiar with Jericho’s WWE run knows that he was the master of putting together some mysterious videos hinting at his arrival. Everyone remembers the infamous countdown video that led to his interrupting The Rock in one of the best promo segments during The Attitude Era.
So, WWE hinting at a return for Jericho via this video would not surprise anyone. He’s been one of the main talking points in recent weeks as speculation about his AEW departure and WWE return grows.
There’s even some thinking that this could be Andrade, which is another wild story in its own right. Speculation is growing that WWE may attempt to “force” him to return due to his contract status, even after he was “fired” and appeared in All Elite Wrestling. That is a messy situation that will potentially take time to work out, but again, he’s another name who has been mentioned as more people saw the mysterious video.
WWE does a great job with vignettes, and this is another example of how the company generates interest in just a few seconds. This is yet another that will lead to some buzz, at least until the actual person arrives. Hopefully, the build matches the results.
