Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar promo/Mark Henry and Brock Lesnar brawl

There are no words to describe the brilliance of Paul Heyman.

After being mentioned on the pre-show by Josh Matthews, CM Punk’s entrance music blasted over the arena speakers to open the show. No Punk however, as Heyman emerged to a chorus of disappointed boos. Heyman climbed into the ring and talked about Punk for about 15 minutes while sitting CM Punk-style in the ring.

He blames the fans for Punk’s leaving, saying that the fans changed him. He also blames The Undertaker for being the beginning of Punk’s downward spiral that led to his departure. Then he turned his attention to his other client, Brock Lesnar, and his feud with The Undertaker.

It was masterful.

Lesnar came out and said he’s going to do what Shawn Michaels couldn’t do, what Triple H couldn’t do, and what “your little baby boy CM Punk” couldn’t do.

Mark Henry comes out to attack Lesnar. It goes like all the other attacks, Henry gets F-5’d through the announce table.

This couldn’t have been any better. Punk mention immediately took the steam out of the “#hijackRAW” movement, and it was able to forward the Lesnar-Undertaker feud. If anybody else had come out to Punk’s music it would have been a gigantic flop. This took a lot of steam out of the Chicago crowd.
