WrestleMania XXX Preview: Daniel Bryan vs. Triple H

What a long, strange trip it’s been. Daniel Bryan has the biggest match of his life at WrestleMania XXX, going up against Triple H for a chance to enter a Triple Threat match with Randy Orton and Batista for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

It all started at SummerSlam, Bryan beat John Cena for the WWE Championship, and the special guest referee Triple H hit Bryan with the Pedigree, allowing Orton to cash-in Money in the Bank and win the title. At Night of Champions, Bryan won the title, albeit with a fast count from the referee, and Triple H stripped Bryan of the title the next night. At Battleground, Stephanie McMahon ordered Big Show go and deliver the KO Punch to Bryan, helping Orton win his title match with Bryan. Show did just that, but went rogue and also hit the KO Punch on Orton and the referee, causing a no contest. At Hell in a Cell, special guest referee Shawn Michaels was accidentally knocked down. Bryan was checking on him, when Triple H entered the Cell and pushed Bryan out of the way so he could check on Michaels. Bryan responded with the Knee Plus, and Michaels responded with the Sweet Chin Music to Bryan, allowing Orton to recover and win the belt.

At this point, Bryan got away from title. Bryan entered a program with The Wyatt Family that carried him from Survivor Series to the Royal Rumble. At Elimination Chamber, Bryan was in the Chamber match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Bryan was in the final two with Orton, until Kane got in the chamber and caused Bryan to lose.

After the Chamber pay-per-view, Bryan began asking for a WrestleMania match with Triple H, but Triple H just scoffed at him. Well on March 10th, Bryan had his infamous “Occupy Raw” segment, and not only got his match with Triple H, but the added stipulation that if he wins, he enters the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match. On top of that, one week later, Triple H got fed up with Batista and Orton and decided that if he beat Bryan, he would enter the title match.

Andrew’s Take: This match will lead into the main event with whatever the outcome of who wins. If WWE was smart they might have this match before the main event, therefore it can just lead into the main event. They could go two ways, but what I believe is Daniel Bryan gets his revenge on Triple H and goes on to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Andrew’s Prediction: Daniel Bryan wins via YES Lock.

Stephen’s Take: Just like The Streak continuing, there’s just one way this match should go, Daniel Bryan for the win.  I don’t care how he gets that win, he needs to win. Plain and simple. But what’s funny is how many different routes people are taking this.  The more routes they think up, the more I believe it goes one way, Daniel Bryan picking up a win.

The more Triple H puts over himself in this feud, the more I believe in Bryan picking up that win.  Are we seeing the pattern here?  For me, and I am sure for most fans, there’s one way WrestleMania needs to close out. “YES! YES! YES!” Daniel Bryan holding both titles over his head after beating Triple H and beating whoever in the triple threat match.

Stephen’s Prediction: Daniel Bryan BETTER win

Mike’s Take: As a fan of Daniel Bryan, I have agonized over this storyline for many months. Bryan is the best wrestler on the planet, and he deserves a fair chance at holding the title and running with it. When Bryan started asking for the match with Triple H, I was against it, but if they play this right, it could make WrestleMania XXX the greatest of all time.

Go back and listen to recent promos from The Authority, they’re hinting at somebody important returning and opposing them, which should come into play on Sunday. There are a few different ways that this can play out, but I think the best way would be for Triple H and Bryan to go on early in the evening, possibly first match of the show. As a part of the opening contest, Triple H should pick up the victory with a little help from his wife.

Don’t start throwing stuff at me, Bryan fans. There will be 70,000 strong at the Superdome, as well as a man named Vince, who may have something to say about Bryan getting cheated out of his title shot.

Mike’ Prediction: Triple H wins following interference from Stephanie McMahon
