At WrestleMania XXX, the longest reigning Divas Champion of all time, AJ Lee, puts her title on the line against 13 challengers in the Vickie Guerrero Divas Championship Invitational. After much confusion following the announcement, this match has been announced as a one-fall to a finish contest.
Andrew’s Take: I think having every Diva on the show is good, but not at the expense of the product being watered down even more. Rosa Mendes, Eva Marie, Aksana and Alicia Fox being added to the Divas Championship match after they were either jobbed out every single week or not even used on TV is just plain wrong. The Bellas would be a top pick to win the championship. However, on the other hand, I would be okay with AJ Lee retaining her title. She would, and probably will, retain in a heel type manner. Either by a sneak attack or a sneak pin that has her barely escape the match.
Andrew’s Prediction: AJ Lee retains!
Stephen’s Take: This looks to be just about every Diva on the roster gunning for AJ’s title. This could be a good way to show that AJ is in fact the most dominant Divas Champion that we’ve seen, or a way to get the title off her. I am leaning towards the latter. There are names in this, whatever you want to call it, that aren’t winning the title. Aksana, Alicia Fox, Eva Marie, Rosa Mendes, heck maybe even Vickie Guerrero shows up in this. Have they even explained what the match entails? That’s what makes this match confusing. How do you win?
If I’m going with some options as to who will win. I want to say AJ retains the title, but I really believe some gal of the Total Divas variety wins it. I want to go with a dark horse pick in Summer Rae. She’s the “newest” member of that show, and I would believe that would be a good storyline for the show. Yes, Total Divas is that scripted. Sorry to spoil it. But I could see Tamina getting a win and she gets the title. Even the Bella Twins look to be strong names to consider. So it should be a fun match in the evening and I’m not sure if it ends up on the main card or possibly on the Pre-Show.
Stephen’s Prediction: AJ Retains the title
Mike’s Take: If there was any way for them to book this match where I would think AJ has a chance, this is it. The one-fall stipulation, with 14 girls in the ring, makes it very easy to envision Nikki and Brie turning on each other, Naomi and Cameron turning on each other, and the continuation of Natalya and Summer Rae’s feud. With those six taken out of the way, AJ could lock the Black Widow on any of the remaining participants and pick up the win.
That being said, it won’t happen. The belt is destined for a Total Diva, with Naomi and Nikki Bella are front-runners for the title. A few months ago, I would go with Naomi, but after she missed time with an injury, Nikki seemed to become the Diva in the spotlight.
Mike’s Prediction: Nikki Bella wins the Divas Championship
