WWE Payback Predictions: John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt in a Last Man Standing Match

At WWE Payback, John Cena tries to finally put The Wyatt Family away, when he takes on Bray Wyatt in a Last Man Standing Match.

The Wyatts have been going after Cena for over five months. Although Bray took on Daniel Bryan at the Royal Rumble, and the entire Wyatt Family faced The Shield at Elimination Chamber, the entire family would also appear at both pay-per-views to cost Cena the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

At WrestleMania XXX, despite all Bray’s attempts to bring the “monster” out of Cena, Cena prevailed with the Cenation firmly behind him.

However, on the final Raw before Extreme Rules, Bray utilized a children’s choir to get Cena off his game. Then, he used the help of Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, and a boy named Little Johnny, to beat Cena in a Steel Cage Match at the PPV.

Now, at Payback, they fight to determine who the true Last Man Standing is.

Let’s get to the predictions:

Stephen’s Take: I think this is all set up for John Cena to overcome Bray and probably puts him right back into the title picture as much as people would hate that.  I just think a program with Bryan and Cena would pick up where things were left off after Bryan beat him at Summerslam.  Bryan could overcome Cena again to prove himself.  But as for Bray and where he goes, that could be the more interesting situation because would a loss hurt Bray?  Then again, it feels like he’s losing momentum anyway, so would a win even help?

Stephen’s Prediction: John Cena

Marcus’ Take: This is a match that I pray they book properly. Bray Wyatt is so over it’s ridiculous. Let me premise this: I am not a John Cena hater by any means. But if Cena goes over on Wyatt on Sunday, I’m going to be furious. There is no explanation I can think of or imagine that would make me think that makes sense. The fact that it’s a Last Man Standing match makes me certain that Rowan and Harper will have a voice in the outcome as well.

I hope Wyatt defeats him on his own, but if those two have a hand in it it wouldn’t be the worst thing ever. I hope the impending interference from Rowan and Harper isn’t as blatant as it was at Extreme Rules. I didn’t have a problem with the finish (that little kid still haunts my dreams) but if Bray is going to go over Cena, then he needs to do it more on his own laurels.

Marcus’ Prediction: Bray Wyatt defeats John Cena

Mike’s Take: Two months ago, I would have said that Bray should win at WrestleMania, then Cena should win at both Extreme Rules and Payback.

Everything changed when The Undertaker lost at WrestleMania, I truly feel Bray would have won that night, but with Taker losing, WWE felt Cena needed to win.

That’s fine, Bray still could’ve won at Extreme Rules, and Cena at Payback. However, when you look at the way the matches themselves played out, it is impossible for Cena to come out the winner at Payback. Bray needs to win at Payback, and, unlike Extreme Rules, he needs to look strong doing it.

Mike’s Prediction: Bray Wyatt
