WWE Money in the Bank: Fantasy Booking The Shield Reunion

facebooktwitterreddit

With WWE Money in the Bank just three days away, I’ve been brainstorming some ways to make it as compelling as possible heading into the dead of the summer. Who wouldn’t be intrigued by a reunion of The Shield? Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are all making waves as individuals right now and some might argue that’s a reason to avoid bringing them back together, but I see it the exact opposite way.

Bringing together individuals that are strong only makes them stronger (see: Evolution, Four Horsemen, etc). They would elevate each other and could form one of the greatest super heel groups in the business. What’s more annoying than a group of heels? How about a group of heels who hold all the power and all the gold? Obviously, they’re not going to be stylin’ and profilin’ like the Nature Boy, but they could have their own sort of smarmy attitude that makes us love to hate them. Here’s what I’m proposing:

WWE Money in the Bank Contract

Seth Rollins is in the Money in the Bank contract ladder match, which should go on earlier in the show. Even without the idea of them coming back together, Rollins has to be one of the favorites to win the match. He’s gaining steam as an individual and he’s getting that superstar rub from Triple H. The guy who wins the Money in the Bank contract is generally a performer who’s getting over, but needs that extra little bump. Rollins is a great choice.

I can see a situation where Rollins is doing his thing in the match, when Ambrose comes out to confront him. Instead of taking him out, as the crowd would expect, Ambrose decides to help Rollins by fending off competitors. Rollins ascends the ladder, pulls down the briefcase and celebrates with Ambrose. The crowd would be pissed that Ambrose made the turn, but that’s part of the deal.

They’d show Roman Reigns in the back of the arena, going crazy with rage, as he can’t believe Ambrose would turn on him like that. It would appear that Reigns was heading towards the face run, with the tandem of Rollins and Ambrose assuming their roles as the heel duo.

NEW WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION

During the ladder match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, a very similar (basically identical) situation would occur. Ambrose and Rollins would come out from the back and would tease attacking Reigns. As the three of them stand in the ring, the crowd would be screaming for Reigns to climb the ladder and ignore Ambrose and Rollins. As all three of them stare at each other, we’d have other competitors enter the ring.

At this point, all three Shield members would start attacking, like a pack of rabid dogs. After laying waste to the other performers, Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns would be all smiles and celebrations, as Reigns slowly ascends the ladder. Ambrose and Rollins would be patrolling the bottom of the ladder, with shit-eating grins on their faces, knowing they’ve got all the power again.

Reigns becomes the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion!

WHAT’S NEXT

The good part about this is when the story starts going a little stale, they could start teasing that Rollins still has that contract and wants to use it. They could tease dissention and depending on how things are going with his character, Rollins could either play the heroic face breaking away from the heel group, or he could play the chickenshit heel, taking advantage of his friend in order to further his status.
