A look at what happened in the Cruiserweight Classic semifinals match between Kota Ibushi vs. TJ Perkins.

On Wednesday night, the finale of the inaugural WWE Cruiserweight Classic took place. Two semifinals bouts would occur, with the winners heading to the final. The first one of these saw the Japanese sensation, Kota Ibushi vs. The Master of The Dab, TJ Perkins.

Ibushi has arguably been the star of the tournament. His matches have been must-watch, including against Cedric Alexander in Round 2. This may have been the best match of the summer event.

Perkins has taken down two “WWE guys” in Johnny Gargano and Rich Swann, arguably upsets. This has led him to the semfinals, with a spot waiting for him if he could take down the man who has taken over this tournament. Could there be another upset in the making?

Here’s a look at what happened in this semifinals matchup on Wednesday night.

The handshake to get things going in this semifinals match.

The pace of this match started slow. However, on the apron, Perkins took out Ibushi and sent him to the floor, landing neck-first.

Ibushi would get back on track, though. He used his high-flying ability to send Perkins down, including using the Golden Triangle Moonsault.

A beautiful German suplex from Ibushi.

See this Pele kick for Ibushi, which was one of the moves of the match.

No one had kicked out of the Golden Star Powerbomb. However, Perkins changed this all tonight!

Perkins locked in the kneebar once again, but went after Ibushi’s surgically repaired neck, which was the most that the Japanese star could handle. He tapped out.

Definitely the upset of the tournament. These two absolutely delivered, though, and may have been better than Metalik vs. Sabre Jr. What a performance to close out the semifinals matches.
