WWE: Roman Reigns-Braun Strowman Feud Won’t Benefit Either Superstar

Why a feud between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman won’t benefit either man at this stage, leading up to Wrestlemania.

As seen at the Royal Rumble, Roman Reigns did not capture the WWE Universal Title from Kevin Owens. This is because Braun Strowman interfered in the match, and attacked Roman Reigns. The reason behind why was questioned, maybe he was still angry about getting speared a few weeks back? He would reveal on Raw that he wanted the Title Match, because Owens promised him one and did not deliver.

Later on Raw, the Championship match would happen with Owens being forced by Mick Foley to defend the title against Strowman. Despite a strong showing, Strowman would not become Champion, as Roman Reigns came out to take his revenge on the giant. He cost him the match, and despite putting on the big moves, Strowman wasn’t to be kept down.

These altercations are leading to a feud, a pre-Wrestlemania feud as Reigns needs something to do as we wait for his program with The Undertaker to begin. So why won’t a feud between these two benefit them? Well with Reigns high likely to take on The Deadman at Wrestlemania, he is going to need a lot of momentum. Not a bad idea to put him against someone big and strong, but the person creative has chosen is Braun Strowman and he also needs a lot of momentum.

Strowman had an impressive showing at the Royal Rumble, and it was a shocker to see him get eliminated by Smackdown Live’s Baron Corbin. But this did not diminish anything he has done, and he got a title shot on Raw. But why build up this powerful monster if he is going to get into a feud with someone who cannot lose it? Reigns needs someone else to feud with, especially leading into Wrestlemania.

They will likely have a match at Fastlane and it would be a must win for the both of them, both can’t afford a loss. This is why this feud isn’t going to benefit either of them, one will ultimately end up looking weak and how will that help either man leading to Wrestlemania? Unless they can book the match in such a way it is an all out brawl, with neither man getting a win but neither man looking weak. That isn’t an easy task, and Reigns at this point needs to look like a credible contender against The Undertaker.

At this point, we have no idea of where Braun Strowman will end up at Wrestlemania, perhaps a cross brand match against Baron Corbin? Whatever the case, his build up as a huge monster cannot be tarnished and this feud may do just that. We have seen that creative do not care what their audience thinks when it comes to Roman Reigns, and they will want him to look strong. But why ruin a potentially huge future star to do so?

Fastlane is going to be an interesting stop before Wrestlemania, and we can all only hope that this feud isn’t a failure. They need to give something for these guys to do, Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens has run its course and Braun Strowman needs a solid feud. From the looks of it, this can’t end well.
