WWE Rumors: Seth Rollins Could Miss Eight Weeks with Torn MCL

Seth Rollins may be out for the rest of WrestleMania 33 season with a torn MCL.

On Wednesday, WWE revealed that Seth Rollins reinjured his surgically-repaired knee on Monday’s episode of Raw. This came in the final segment when Samoa Joa attacked him and put the Coquina Clutch submission manauever on, which brought the Architect down awkwardly. He would get his potential injury checked out on Wednesday.

Well, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Rollins suffered a knee injury “believed to be a torn MCL”. He may miss “about eight weeks” with this.

This potential timetable would have Rollins return just days before WrestleMania 33. If it’s true, then there could be a chance of him being able to compete at the show. However, given that he’s coming off an even worse knee injury from just over one year ago, WWE will likely play this cautiously and await word from a doctor before letting him wrestle.

The WON also reported that WWE officials held a meeting over creating backup plans in case Rollins vs. Triple H can’t happen at WrestleMania 33. One idea involved Joe vs. Triple H, the latter of whom brought the former two-time NXT Champion into the equation in the storyline.

The obvious hope will be that Rollins makes a quick recovery and can compete at WrestleMania 33. This, of course, has to mean that he’s completely healthy and not just half or three-quarters of the way there. The risk may not be worth it for him so early in his career, even though this would be the second consecutive WrestleMania the former Shield man has missed. So a desire to rush back may be there, but it needs to be taken with caution.
