Did They Defy The Odds?

Last night, TNA presented Against All Odds on PPV.  Did they defy the odds and put on a fantastic show or was it just average?  Here’s what went down:

QUICK THOUGHTS:

Well, I’m not going to say it was a great show, but I’ll say it was an average one.  I’ll start with the Eight Card Stud Tournament.  I think it’s safe to say that I’m shocked with the outcome.  I did NOT even think that “The Pope” would be remotely close to winning.  It speaks volumes as to what TNA thinks when it comes with to his potential as a possible main event talent.  The one thing that I was shocked the most about was how soundly Kurt Angle got whooped by Mr. Anderson.  Anderson using Kurt’s medal to cut him open was classic!  As for the NO DQ stipulation added to the Abyss/Foley match, they were also asked to use the barb-wire baseball bat or fear that Abyss will lose his mask on Thursday’s Impact… they didn’t use it.  I expect some sort of backlash from Eric Bischoff.

I don’t even want to talk about how upset I am about The Nasty Boys winning, and now Jimmy Hart’s back too… geez…  I think the only person who’s missing in TNA is Brutus Beefcake, who ironically is going to be wrestling at Big Time Wrestling (my local promotion) next month.

The World Title match was alright.  I knew something like this would happen and AJ would retain the title, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it!  I really think this AJ Styles arrogant asshole character stinks on ice!  Ric Flair could pull it off, but it’s not AJ’s forte.  He’s a good old boy and it just doesn’t fit him.  I figured Flair would get involved, but I hoped that maybe he’d get sent to the back and AJ would have to fend for himself and squeak away with a victory.

Be sure to tune in today at 2:30 eastern/11:30 pacific for the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT from Dixie Carter and Hulk Hogan on the future of TNA at TNA Wrestling LIVE!
