State of TNA Wrestling
For what it’s worth, I’ve been a TNA fan for awhile. I can’t say that I’ve been down since day one because I wasn’t. I didn’t start following TNA consistently till they got their TV deal with Spike. I saw something today that was very disturbing. TNA Impact from last Monday (3/29) scored a .62 rating. That means they didn’t even get one million viewers. If that wasn’t disturbing enough, WWE’s replay of Monday Night RAW from last week called AM RAW that airs late Saturday nights beat it with a .7 rating. This is NOT a good sign at all for TNA Wrestling.
When it comes down to it, TNA’s product isn’t that bad, but it’s looking like the decision to move to Monday nights was not a good decision so far. Hell, to sling more mud in the face of TNA, WWE’s NXT show is doing better than they are over on Syfy. Tuesday night they got a 1.0 rating. I just never thought a day like this would happen when ALL of WWE’s show would be beating TNA. It’s hard to have hope for the future of a show or a company with crappy numbers like they’ve been getting. TNA really has to find something that is either going to entice the fans to change the channel or go back to Thursday nights. Next week’s edition of TNA Impact will be on an hour earlier starting at 5pm on the east coast. If their first hour does better than their second hour, well then we’ll know it’s because they’re not going directly against RAW at that time.
If Eric Bischoff, Hulk Hogan, or Dixie Carter are thinking clearly, now would be a good time to reevaluate things when it comes to the roster and payroll, the story lines, and your choice of time slot. I would hate to see a wrestling company I and many others have enjoyed to go under because people let pride get in the way of their business decisions!
