TNA Wrestling News/Notes – 4/8/10

facebooktwitterreddit

Over the past few days, there have been some news worthy notes that have happened for TNA and their roster.  Are you interested?  Here’s what I’ve got for you:

***TNA IS MOVING!!!***

  • After last Monday’s “temporary” change in time slot from 9pm to 8pm (as to not be completely opposite of WWE RAW), TNA has decided to make the move permanent as they saw a bump in their ratings for the first time in a few weeks.  They got a .9 rating which equals to about 1.2 million viewers.  They’re still no where near where they were on Thursday, but it’s a step in the right direction for them to change the time slot.  They’re not going to be able to steal viewers away from WWE, so they’re countering by starting an hour earlier.  I think in the scheme of things it’ll help their numbers, but don’t expect a close battle… this is still a ratings massacre by WWE.

***JEFF JARRET GETS ENGAGED***

  • Now normally, I don’t like to go to much into wrestler’s private lives, but this one I can’t let go by because Jeff Jarrett isn’t just engaged to any woman.  He’s gotten engaged to Karen Angle.  Yes, Kurt Angle‘s ex-wife!  I don’t know how many people can remember back to when this was a hot ticket news item in the wrestling world, but Jeff and Kurt were NOT on good terms for the longest of times because of this.  I congratulate Jeff and Karen, but I just hope that things don’t blow up in their faces once Kurt finds out.

***LANCE STORM PISSED AT TNA***

  • Here’s a name you may not have heard in awhile.  Lance Storm, former WCW and WWE wrestler, made a comment on his blog the other day about the unprotected chair shot that Rob Terry took from Homicide last Monday on Impact.  He went on a total rant about concussions and used his dearly departed friend, Chris Kanyon, as an example of how chair shots can be contributing factors to depression, brain damage, etc.  He claims he’s just really concerned for the well-being of the wrestlers in the business because so many have died over the years.  Now I get Storm’s concern, I’m not a bastard, wrestling is a dangerous business, but one shot to the head to get a guy over isn’t going to hurt him.  If it does hurt him, I pray that God will watch over and heal his injuries.  I think Storm’s being a little over dramatic with this rant to an extent, but he makes some valid points about drug testing and wellness policies.

***TNA LOOKING TO SCORE TWO HUGE NAMES***

  • Now this is just speculation, but if they are able to score the two names that are rumored, it would be a huge boost to TNA, with one being a huge blow to WWE.  The first name is Paul Heyman.  Arguably one of the better minds in the business, not affiliated with a company, Heyman and TNA have talked in the past with Heyman turning down multiple offers from them.  When it comes down to it, Heyman wants some sort of control when it comes to the writing, but until TNA decides to hand off some of that power, we won’t be seeing Paul E anytime soon.  The other name is the Hall of Famer, Jim Ross.  Ross has not been on WWE programming since his last bout with Bells Palsy.  He’s still under contract for the next few months with WWE, but if TNA could score him, it would be a huge blow to WWE because Ross is such a big part of things behind the scenes.
