Coming off the Big Bang event in North Carolina, who would return to HDNet television as champions?  Find out what went down on tonight’s Ring of Honor, right now:

Video Package: Highlights from the Big Bang’s ROH World Title match up.  Tyler Black successfully defends his title against Austin Aries & Roderick Strong in a three way, elimination style contest.

Jim Cornette is in the ring and he brings out the ROH World Champion, Tyler Black.  “When it comes to Austin Aries, he’s a smart guy, but bottom line is, I’ve got his number… When it comes to Roderick Strong, I can’t tell you what’s going on in his head… I’m not looking out for him, my main concern is me!”

  • Interrupted by Davey Richards, “You’re used to dealing with guys that play a lot of games… you’ve got something I want, and I’m going to get it!”

Video Package: Jerry Lynn‘s history in Ring of Honor and the incident, perpetrated by Kenny King & Rhett Titus, that put him temporarily out of action.

Jerry Lynn vs. Jake Manning
WINNER: Jerry Lynn via pin fall after hitting the Cradle Pile Driver

  • After match, Kyle Durden climbed into the ring for a reaction from Lynn.  “We know the risks when we get into this ring.  What Kenny King and Rhett Titus did to me, that wasn’t one of those risks… you did it on purpose… I’m not going to feel bad for what I do to you!”

Video Package: Clips from the Big Bang where NEW ROH Tag Team Champions were crowned when the Kings of Wrestling (Claudio Castagnoli & Chris Hero) defeated the Briscoe Bros.

Backstage: Kyle Durden is with Steve Corino.  Durden asks for a prediction in the TV Title Tournament.  Corino disrespects him because we all know he’s allied with Kevin Steen.  Durden also asks if he’s ready for his match tonight with El Generico, and Corino tells him he knows what he’s doing.

El Generico vs. Steve Corino
WINNER: El Generico via forfeit

  • Before match, Corino takes the mic and takes pot shots at Generico.  Says he’s “hiding behind the mask,” and “if he died tomorrow no one would care.”  Corino then goes as far as saying that he’s worse than cancer, and more like full blown AIDS.
  • After Corino tells the ref he forfeits, he takes one more verbal shot at Generico saying, “Kevin Steen was right.  You’ll never be anything without him!”  Generico finally snaps and attacks Corino until refs break them apart.

Video Package: How we got to tonight’s first match up of the semi-final round in the TV Title Tournament.

Video Package: Christopher Daniels returns to Ring of Honor!

Backstage: Kyle Durdan is with Eddie Edwards and asks him what happens if both he and his partner Davey Richards make the finals of the TV Title Tournament?  Edwards is pissed he would even ask that question.

  • Interrupted by Kenny King, “It’s bad enough that you overlook Kevin Steen, but worse that you’re overlooking me!”
  • Edwards responds, “The problem with guys like you, is you’d rather look good and lose than do what you need to do to win!  I’d love to face you in the finals and shut that mouth up for good!”

TV Title Tournament Semi-Final Match
Kevin Steen vs. Eddie Edwards with Shane Hagadorn
WINNER: Eddie Edwards via small package pin fall

  • Before match, Steen went on a rant about how he gets things now and how much he respects Eddie Edwards now after their epic battles in the past, but he wants to be TV Champion, so he’s totally willing to re-injure Edwards’ elbow again… Then attacks him!
  • Mid match, El Generico comes down the entry way and distracts Kevin Steen momentarily, which allows Edwards to get the roll up for the pin fall.

QUICK THOUGHTS:

Big Bang kept Tyler Black champion… no shocker there.  However, I was shocked to hear that the Kings of Wrestling won the Tag Titles from the Briscoes.  Considering there wasn’t so much in the way of build up to it on HDNet, I half expected the Briscoes to retain.  We’ll see if the tag team division goes bonkers now that there’s two new guys holding the titles.

Good to see Jerry Lynn back in the ring again.  He pretty much whooped the crap out of a jobber after a slow start, so it was a pretty uneventful match up.  The promo after was cool because he wants revenge and the fans needed to be reminded about that.  I’m guessing that King and Titus will try again to injure Lynn, but it won’t end up the way they planned.  Hell, maybe Lynn will get back at King next week in his TV Title Tournament match up..?

The promo that Steve Corino cut on El Generico was pretty harsh…  So harsh that HDNet had to actually censor the word AIDS.  That’s sort of sad.  I’m shocked they didn’t have Generico beat his ass when he said that.  I know I would’ve flown off the handle!

Main event was a good match, but did Kevin Steen really need to cut that promo before?  I don’t believe so.  It was just a big time waster in my eyes.  Generico coming out to cost him the win when he had the match well in hand was a great way to keep stoking the fire of that feud.
