TNA Lockdown – Preview/Predictions
Tonight, TNA presents their April PPV offering known as Lockdown. Every match on this card will take place inside a steel cage structure! This is going to be a very gruesome show and not for the feint of heart. Last time, I was able to film my predictions and post them here, but the past few days and this weekend have been very chaotic for me, so for this PPV I’m back to just in print. Here’s how I think TNA Lockdown will turn out:
Lethal Lockdown Advantage Match
Rob Van Dam vs. James Storm
SHOULD: Storm WILL: Storm
- This match is to determine who will have the extra man advantage in the Lethal Lockdown match. C’mon! You really think that the baby faces are going to get the advantage..? They need to have something to overcome in the grand scheme of things. Storm gives the advantage to Team Flair, possibly by underhanded means.
Motor City Machine Guns vs. Brian Kendrick & Homicide
SHOULD: Guns WILL: Guns
- I didn’t even realize that this match was on the card until I checked the website this weekend. This match hasn’t been advertised to my knowledge. Either that or I didn’t pay as much attention to them running down the card this past week. Simply, the Guns have to win this match up. It will put them right back in the limelight as front runners for the TNA Tag Titles.
Kevin Nash vs. Eric Young
SHOULD: Young WILL: Young
- My hope is that Kevin Nash has grown as a person and will take this opportunity as a way to give Young a push in the right direction. I’m skeptical, but I hope that Dixie Carter is still bent on her pro-young talent stand, and Young will go over.
- SIDE NOTE: Every time I see these guys I can’t help but wonder if Crosby and Stills are going to show up… Sorry bad joke!
The Band vs. Team 3D
SHOULD: Team 3D WILL: Team 3D
- From what I’ve heard is that backstage, Scott Hall & Syxx Pac are trying to get along with people, but considering that Hall is not up to par with his weight issues and the fact that they’re boys with Hulk Hogan, I think they should be thrown down a peg or two. After coming away with a victory this week thanks to Bubba The Love Sponge in a NYC Street Fight, I think Team 3D gets revenge in the cage.
X Division Title Match
Doug Williams (Champion) vs. Shannon Moore vs. Kazarian
SHOULD: Williams WILL: Moore
- I am a fan of Doug Williams! I like his technical, catch-as-catch-can style. He’s not the prototypical X Division superstar, but he’s great in the ring! This match, I have a feeling will go to one of the high fliers though. My gut is telling me Shannon Moore. Personally, I think Kaz has more potential as a champion, and has done more for the company over the years, but Moore is the “hot character” right now in the eyes of Eric Bischoff.
All Knockout Titles On The Line
The Beautiful People (Tag Team Champions) vs. Tara & Angelina Love (TNA Knockouts Champion)
SHOULD: Love/Tara WILL: TBP
- This match up is so convoluted. If the BPs win the match, the person who scores the pin fall gets the KO Title. If Tara or Love win the match for their team, they become the KO Tag Champions. The only person in this match up who has nothing to lose and everything to gain is Tara. However, she’s probably the most deserving of winning the KO Title and she cannot because the champion is her partner. Did you understand a word that I said..? Anyways, I think that Velvet Sky is going to get the pin fall and go off the deep end with ego because she’ll have two belts… How funny/sad would it be if they let Lacey Von Erich in the match and she won the KO Title?!?
Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Anderson
SHOULD: Angle WILL: Angle
- IF this is the final battle between these two men, as it seems like it will be, Kurt Angle has to win! Angle is talking about taking time off after Lockdown to heal up, so for him to go out as a beaten and broken man would not help his reptutation. This match is the one I expect to be the most brutal contest of the night, and there are technically no weapons allowed. I think Angle is going to win this one for America and then show up on Monday, give Anderson kudos for putting up one hell of a fight, and then take his leave.
Lethal Lockdown Match
Team Hogan (Abyss, Jeff Hardy, Jeff Jarrett & Rob Van Dam) vs. Team Flair (Beer Money Inc., Sting & Desmond Wolfe)
SHOULD: Team Hogan WILL: Team Flair
- Now this prediction goes against every fiber of my being, but I just have this gut feeling like Flair’s team is going to win some how. As I’ve said in the past, usually the team that get’s the best of another on the weekly TV show, doesn’t prevail on the PPV, but call it a hunch, I think that maybe Flair himself is going to get involved in this match up to determine the outcome. I wouldn’t doubt Hogan getting involved too, but I think that’s less likely than Flair.
TNA World Heavyweight Title
AJ Styles (Champion) vs. “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero
SHOULD: Pope WILL: Styles
- I enjoy watching The Pope in the ring and listening to him cut a promo. The one thing I don’t know for certain yet is if TNA thinks he’s ready to be “THE MAN” yet. I think, more as a safety precaution, AJ goes over in this match. This could possibly be another match where Flair helps to determine the outcome.
The TNA Lockdown PPV on Sunday (4/18) starts at 5pm on the west coast. Check back Monday for the results and my thoughts on what happened. Till then…
