Smackdown – 4/30/10
After the annual WWE Draft, how would Smackdown look with a whole new cast of characters? You want the results for Smackdown? Well I got them right here:
EDITORS NOTE: Once again Smackdown was preempted in my area this past Friday. Sorry for the delay in releasing this post. From the looks of it, Smackdown will air it’s normally scheduled time next week. Crossing my fingers that it says that way.
Video Package: A look at how the WWE Draft shook down and where everyone went.
Teddy Long comes to the ramp and talks a little about the draft. He introduces one of the newest members of the Smackdown roster, Kofi Kingston.

Edge comes to the ring and gives this whole sob story to the crowd about how he’s leaving for RAW and caps it off by telling the crowd that he loves them!
- Christian interrupts and walks to ring. They both reminisce about their days together as a tag team. Christian reminisces about how they grew up together and broke into the business together, then calls Edge out saying that everything he just told the crowd was a lie!
- Edge then realizes that it’s possibly about Christian’s jealousy and somewhat sarcastically rants about how he really wants to get off this show and that he’s a master psychologist and played everyone.
- Christian calls him out for using him to get to the top and how he’d like to face Edge one on one.
- Edge says no and a scrap breaks out for a few moments until Edge bails out.
- Christian gets the crowd to chant… NA NA NA NA HEY HEY HEY GOODBYE!
Backstage: Josh Matthews grabs Edge and asks about a possible match between he and Christian. Edge responds by saying that it won’t happen because Christian talks a big game.
- Big Show enters, “Too bad we’re not going to see that Edge & Christian match. Too bad we won’t see this match either…” Show KO Punches Edge.

- Interrupted by MVP, “I’m so sorry that every week you have to listen to this moron… SHUT UP! The only saving going on is me saving this crowd from you… One thing I can promise is Friday night is about to be hot again…” Attacks SES and gets caught up in numbers game until Rey comes down to make the save. SES bails out.

Backstage: More fun facts with our lisped champion Swagger!
Jack Swagger comes to the ring, “When I was a young boy, my father sat me down. You know what he told me? He said, ‘son, one day you’ll be a world champion.’…” He rattles on about the same accolades he’s been telling us the whole show and more. “My greatest achievement was when I won the World Championship… and my dad wanted to talk to me again. He said, ‘son, I told you so!’ So now I’m telling everyone, I’m going to be world champion until I retire…”
- Interrupted by Teddy Long, “I know what the WWE Universe wants to hear… who is the new number one contender and will face you for the World Heavyweight Championship..?”
- Big Show’s music hits and place erupts! Show walks to the ring, “You know what the doctor said the day I was born? ‘Oh my God, you see the size of him?!?’ You’re many things, but you’re not like I am…” Show runs down Swagger’s accomplishments again and adds one more thing to his resume, early retirement. KO Punches Swagger in the jaw!
QUICK THOUGHTS:
Yippie! Big Show is the number one contender for the World Title! (SARCASM) Who didn’t see this one coming after the Smackdown roster was completely plundered?!? I’m wondering if this is their way to build Swagger up or to get the belt off of him. His whole entire promo last night was filled with crowd chants and boos. It sounded like he was getting real heat. Now Smackdown is taped, so they could’ve been pumping in some fake crowd noise in the video, but we’ll never know now, will we…
I have to ask one question here… If memory serves, weren’t Edge and Christian billed as brothers during the Attitude Era..? What’s with all the talk that they met in the 6th grade, grew up together, and broke into the business together talk? I know that’s probably real life, but the one thing you could maybe do is stick to the kayfabe story lines that you guys lived through your entire careers till this point with! That irritates me!
For the most part, this episode of Smackdown wasn’t great. It was just a means to let the leaving superstars say goodbye and the arriving superstars make an impact on their new home. You noticed, none of the arriving superstars that were in a match lost…
