WWE Over The Limit – Preview/Predictions

facebooktwitterreddit

Tonight is WWE’s newest PPV addition, Over The Limit.  Tonight’s show boasts eight matches, five of which are for a championship belt!  Who is going to walk out with a victory?  I have my thoughts.  Read on to find out:

(EDITORS NOTE: I was having issues with my laptop last night, and after having to work on local fed stuff, and my previous post, I did not have time to film preview/predictions.  I’ll be back next time on video.)

R-Truth vs. Ted DiBiase
SHOULD: DiBiase WILL: R-Truth

  • This rivalry has grown over simply the idea that DiBiase needed his own Virgil.  Well, now the original Virgil is in the corner of his former boss’ son, and DiBiase looks to make R-Truth pay for not taking the offer for the position.  Personally, I feel like DiBiase should win this match up, but I just think that at the end of the night, Virgil might screw DiBiase over and then walk out friends with R-Truth.

WWE Unified Tag Team Championship Match
The Hart Dynasty (Champions) vs. The Miz & Chris Jericho
SHOULD: Harts WILL: Miz/Jericho

  • I’ve stated before how much I dislike when people get thrown together as tag teams, but I think the egotistical nature of both The Miz and Jericho might actually work well.  I would prefer to see the established team get the victory, but I have a feeling like the underhanded tactics of Miz/Jericho will prevail and we will be crowning NEW Unified Tag Team Champions.

Join SES or Shave Head Match
Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk
SHOULD: Punk WILL: Punk

  • This rivalry has been one of the hot ticket items in WWE for the course of the past few months.  If Punk loses tonight, he loses his hair.  If Mysterio loses, he must join the Straightedge Society.  My thought process tells me that Mysterio is going to be the one on the short end of the stick.  Forcing Punk to shave his head does nothing for the scheme of the rivalry, nor does it bring things to an end.  The only option in my eyes is for Punk to win and have Mysterio deal with Punk controlling his life.

Intercontinental Title Match
Kofi Kingston vs. Drew McIntyre (Champion)
SHOULD: Kingston WILL: McIntyre

  • This rivalry has only been around for a week or so, and I think that it could end up going a little bit longer.  Maybe the match doesn’t end up with a McIntyre victory, but I really see him leaving the PPV with the belt still firmly around his waist.  Kingston deserves the title, but the “chosen one” will do what he has to do to leave champion.

Diva’s Title Match
Eve Torres (Champion) vs. Maryse
SHOULD: Maryse WILL: Eve

  • Maryse is the better wrestler of these two lovely ladies.  Eve is growing into a decent wrestler and is getting better each time she appears on TV.  The title match tonight really doesn’t mean much to me, and personally I don’t care who wins.  If I had to pick, I’d say that Maryse deserves to have the title more, but WWE has a thing for Eve right now, so I say she’ll retain.

Randy Orton vs. Edge
SHOULD: Edge WILL: Orton

  • This rivalry is one that’s been a big deal for the past month since the draft.  I enjoy watching Edge more than I do Orton.  I think Orton has gotten to a plateau with his character and it somewhat bores me most of the time.  However, I think when it comes to the rest of the WWE Universe, Orton has gone from being a super heel to a tweener where sometimes he’s beloved and sometimes he’s hated, and maybe WWE will try to capitalize on it.  I think that Orton will pull out the victory tonight.

World Heavyweight Title Match
Big Show vs. Jack Swagger (Champion)
SHOULD: Swagger WILL: Swagger

  • Yeah, I know that Show is the “largest athlete in the world,” but after the past few weeks of Show getting the best of Swagger with the KO Punch one week, to the choke slam another, to the trophy destruction last week, I just think that somehow Swagger is going to pull this one out and retain the title.

WWE Title Match – I Quit Match
John Cena (Champion) vs. Batista
SHOULD: Cena WILL: Cena

  • If WWE wanted to pull the biggest okie doke on the WWE Universe, they’d have Batista win this match up.  However, it’s WWE, and  it’s their big money Superman, John Cena in the match up.  I honestly cannot see him EVER tapping out to anything!  Plus the rumor of Batista being done with wrestling adds to the thought process of why Cena should and will win this match up.

Over The Limit starts at 5pm pst/8est on PPV.  I’ll be back tomorrow for the results and my review of the show.  Till then…
