Going into the last episode of Impact before Slammiversary, what new matches would be added to the card, and who would get the last laugh going into this weekend?  Find out what went down right here:

Video Package: Last week Mr. Anderson & Jeff Hardy officially join forces.  Ric Flair‘s relationship with AJ Styles is falling apart?  Rob Van Dam defeats three top competitors.

AJ Styles, Beer Money Inc., Kazarian & Desmond Wolfe come to the ring.  Styles takes the mic, “Due to Ric Flair’s absence, I will take control of the situation;  I learned we were in an eight man tag team match…  Here’s the problem, there are five guys in the ring…  Five doesn’t work, but look at The Beatles, The Fantastic Four, and The Four Horsemen… Kazarian, you’re out, hit the bricks!”  They all start arguing.

  • Flair’s music hits to everyone in the ring’s surprise, but it’s not the “Nature Boy” it’s Jay Lethal doing his Flair impression again.  Lethal does the impression for a few minutes before introducing his team for tonight, Mr. Anderson & Abyss.  AJ points out that’s only three people and they need four for their team… Lethal says Abyss counts as two!
  • They hit the ring and a brawl breaks out.  Jeff Hardy’s music hits, but instead of coming down the ramp, he comes from the crowd and bests the heels.

Video Package: Brian Kendrick talking in riddles about knowing why he’s here in TNA… To win the X-Division Title.

Brian Kendrick vs. Homicide
WINNER: Kendrick via pin fall after kicking Homicide square in the jaw.

  • X-Division Champion, Doug Williams, was on commentary scouting for his match this weekend against Kendrick
  • Mid match, Homicide tried to grab a screwdriver from under the ring to hit Kendrick with, and when the ref took it away, Kendrick booted him.

Backstage: Brother Ray being held back by Brother Devon as security steps in between them and Ink Inc.

Ink Inc. goes to ring and Jesse Neal calls out Brother Ray.  He and Devon come to the ring with security trying to get in the way.  Neal tells him, “If you’ve got a problem with me, have the balls to face me like a man!  Isn’t that what you taught me?  And what’s the deal with you laying us out and putting cards on us?

  • Ray has no clue about the card thing, but he tells Neal, “I do know you’ve turned into an arrogant punk.  I am one of the most legit tough guys in our business.  I brought you into this business, and I can take you out.”
  • Neal comes back, “I’ve never done anything to disrespect you.  I’ve looked up to you!”
  • Ray showing no remorse, “I don’t need your thank yous.  You’re a nobody… You were a failure in the Navy and if I have anything to do with it, you’ll be a failure in the wrestling industry.
  • Shannon Moore jumps on the mic and calls Ray a bully and Devon a puppet.
  • Devon then is a little upset, but gives Shannon a pass for his comment… He then tells Ray “you need to get your head on straight and leave that kid alone!”
  • Ray then attacks Neal from behind.

Video Package: From Sacrifice when Sting destroyed Jeff Jarrett leaving him a bloody mess.

Backstage: Matt Morgan talking to Eric Bischoff & Ms. Tessmacher (who stands there looking pretty).  Morgan wants to know who his tag team partner is for Slammiversary?  Bischoff says to Morgan that he’s going to like his partner, and his partner would love Morgan to death…

  • Bischoff tells Morgan that Hulk Hogan is waiting at the ring entrance with his partner, and that the match will be tonight!
  • Morgan thinks he knows who it is because of how sinister Bischoff looks after telling him this and is upset.

Video Package: Jeff Jarrett comments on Sting’s brutal attack of him at Sacrifice that has forced him out of action with an arm injury.  Jarrett vows revenge.

Matt Morgan comes to the ring for his tag team title match.  Hulk Hogan comes out to the ramp to greet him and announce who his tag team partner is… The partner he put out of action a few months back, Hernandez.

  • That’s who Morgan feared it would be.  Hernandez attacks Morgan and they brawl all over the ringside area.  Hernandez eventually uses his shirt to choke Morgan out.  Hogan makes a match for them, one on one, at Slammiversary.
  • Medical help comes out for Morgan and they put him on a back board.  They’re looking to stretcher him out when The Band‘s music hits.  The match is going to happen.

Tag Team Title Match
The Band (Champions) vs. Matt Morgan (and his ego)
WINNERS: The Band via pin fall as Eric Young covers Morgan

  • Match was all of 5 seconds because Morgan was still strapped to the back board in the middle of the ring, not moving.

Backstage: Christy Hemme is with Rob Van Dam and she asks about Sting’s unpredictable nature as of late…  RVD says that he’s going to show Sting why he’s the World Champion…

  • Sting jumps RVD from behind and then walks away with RVD’s title belt.

Kurt Angle to the ring.  “This Sunday at Slammiversary, my first victim will be Kazarian, a talented X-Division wrestler.  So tonight, I will face a friend of mine who’s the greatest X-Division wrestler on the planet, and I told him to throw everything at me including the kitchen sink.”

Kurt Angle vs. Amazing Red
WINNER: Angle via pin fall after hitting the Olympic Slam

Backstage: Sting with TNA title, “I’m in posession of the title now, but on Sunday I’ll own it and remove the veil from everyone’s eyes because right now, the word of the month is deception (which is painted on the championship belt).  Change is coming!”

Eight Man Tag Team Match
AJ Styles, Beer Money & Desmond Wolfe vs. Jay Lethal, Abyss, Mr. Anderson & Jeff Hardy
WINNERS: Heels via pin fall after AJ hits the Styles Clash on Lethal

Backstage: Sting still not found by RVD, says that “he’ll be waiting for Robbie!”

Backstage: RVD looking for Sting, and gets jumped from behind again!  They brawl throughout the back and then make their way into the Impact Zone and to the ring.  RVD gains the advantage for a bit, but Sting turns it around again and then lays into RVD with a chair.  Sting throws the belt back on RVD saying “It’s yours till Sunday…”

QUICK THOUGHTS:

I’m going to keep this short and sweet because there weren’t too many good points on this show…

The X-Division match was pretty good.  The Angle/Red match was pretty good too…  Wait a second, the X-Division guys have the best matches..?  What a concept?!?  I think they should run with that more often!  Oh wait, how many times have I said this and TNA doesn’t give a shit anymore…  Yeah…

The build up for Sting and RVD was good, but I’m hoping that the match doesn’t fall flat when Slammiversary rolls around this Sunday.

Oh, and I don’t know if you noticed, but the only women shown on the broadcast, are women that don’t get in the ring at all!  Where the hell are the Knockouts?!?  TNA you’re dropping the ball.  Even WWE has a crappy Diva match on every broadcast, the least you can do is put one Knockout’s match on the card!
