WWE NXT – 6/22/10
WWE NXT is back on the air, and yesterday was the last day to make a first impression as next week will be the first fan vote and pros poll. Which NXT rookie would shine? Find out right here:
A new co-host, Ashley Valence, welcomes us to NXT and reminds the world that next week will be our first fan vote and pros poll. She then introduces the WWE Pros.
Alex Riley & The Miz vs. Percy Watson & MVP
WINNERS: Riley/Miz via pin fall after Miz hits the Skull Crushing Finale on Watson
Video Package: A closer look at Titus O’Neil, a man who rose up from nothing to become a successful athlete.
Titus O’Neil with Zack Ryder vs. Michael McGillicutty with Kofi Kingston
WINNER: McGillicutty via pin fall after hitting a Swinging Neck Breaker
Kaval with LayCool vs. Eli Cottonwood with John Morrison
WINNER: Cottonwood via pin fall after hitting a Reverse Eurinagi (Facebuster)
Video Package: A closer look at Lucky Cannon, a survivor with a ton of heart.
Backstage: LayCool are trying to console Kaval, and they decide to give him a gift, a pink t-shirt that reads “property of LayCool.”
- He “doesn’t know what to say,” but looks like he’s a little pissed off.
Video Package: Matt Striker gets attacked last week by Cody Rhodes. Rhodes was challenged to face rookie, Lucky Cannon, by his pro Mark Henry. Rhodes got frustrated after accepting the match and forearmed Striker in the head.
- Striker is now sitting at the announce table, and is pissed off, but states that he’s going to remain professional.
Video Package: Last night on RAW, Vince McMahon is attacked by season one cast of NXT.
Cody Rhodes with Husky Harris vs. Lucky Cannon with Mark Henry
WINNER: Rhodes via pin fall after hitting Cross Rhodes
- Before match, Rhodes reiterates that he could beat Cannon in five minutes. He has a clock put up so that it’s a legit five minute challenge. He beat Cannon in a little under four minutes.
NXT Rookies are in the ring, and Matt Striker lets each of them jump on the mic to say their peace one last time before next week’s vote.
- Last person to go is Husky Harris who doesn’t need his time, and attacks Matt Striker from behind.
QUICK THOUGHTS:
I like this streamline version of the show. I don’t enjoy when there’s too much talking and then only two matches in total. Tonight was a lot better with four matches inside of one hour.
I really don’t get why they brought in a co-host to help Striker out. I’m guessing that it might of had to do with him being attacked last week, but I’m not sure.
After watching the matches this week, the two stand outs by far are Alex Riley and Michael McGillicutty. I have a feeling that those two competitors will be 1 & 2 next week in the pros poll. Now because of fan voting, that could throw a wrench in the whole scheme of things. Kaval is a good competitor, but has no wins, Percy Watson seems pretty entertaining, but only has one win. All in all, I hope that the fan voting isn’t rigged because with WWE, you just don’t know for certain.
