WWE Money in the Bank – Results/Review
After last night’s Money in the Bank PPV, the WWE has two new “Mr. Money in the Bank,” and we also have at least one new champion on the roster. Who was able to rise above and score the biggest win of their career last night? Find out right here:
Smackdown Money in the Bank Match
Participants: Big Show, Matt Hardy, Christian, Kofi Kingston, Cody Rhodes, Kane, Drew McIntyre, Dolph Ziggler
WINNER: Kane becomes the Smackdown MITB challenger and can challenge the World Champion
- Big moment: Boom Drop by Kofi off a ladder, outside the ring, on McIntyre while lying on the announce table.
Diva’s Title Match
Alicia Fox (Champion) vs. Eve Torres
WINNER: Alicia Fox via pin fall after hitting the Scissors Kick to retain the Diva’s Title
Unified Tag Team Title Match
The Hart Dynasty (Tyson Kidd & DH Smith with Natalya) vs. The Usos (Jimmy & Jey) with Tamina
WINNERS: Harts via submission after DH Smith locked Jimmy Uso in the Sharp Shooter
World Title Match
Rey Mysterio (Champion) vs. Jack Swagger
WINNER: Mysterio via pin fall after a hurricanrana roll up after escaping Swagger’s Ankle Lock submission
- Post match, Swagger locks on another Ankle Lock on Mysterio, and Kane comes down to the ring to beat him down. They fight all the way back up the ramp to the backstage area.
- While Rey’s trying to get up, Kane’s music hits again, but this time he comes out with the MITB case, and a referee.
World Title Match
Kane vs. Rey Mysterio (Champion)
WINNER: Kane via pin fall after hitting a Choke Slam and a Tombstone Pile Driver to become the NEW World Champion
Women’s Title Match
Layla (Champion) with Michelle McCool vs. Kelly Kelly with Tiffany
WINNER: Layla via pin fall after countering a sunset flip to retain the Women’s Title
RAW Money in the Bank Match
Participants: Randy Orton, John Morrison, Mark Henry, Evan Bourne, Ted DiBiase, Chris Jericho, Edge, The Miz
WINNER: The Miz becomes the RAW MITB challenger and can challenge the WWE Champion
- Big Moment: Bunch of ladders stacked all different ways in ring, 7 out of 8 men all reaching for case at one time.
- Post match, Miz cuts a promo gloating about his win, and how this victory proves to everyone that he’s made it in this business.
WWE Title Match – Steel Cage Match
Sheamus (Champion) vs. John Cena
WINNER: Sheamus via escape of the cage
- Mid match, The Nexus to the ring with bolt cutters. A ref sneaks up behind them and steals them. They threaten another referee for the keys, and he throws them into the crowd. All the while, the ref gets knocked into the cage in the ring, and Cena tries to climb over the top only to be met by The Nexus. Sheamus climbs out the other side for the win with little resistance from Heath Slater.
- Post match, Cena beats up on Darren Young, and then throws the steel steps at Michael Tarver.
QUICK THOUGHTS:
Nowhere near a great PPV, but I’d have to say that minus the women’s matches, it was a good PPV.
I didn’t think in a million years that Kane would’ve won the MITB match for Smackdown, let alone cash it in the same night to become World Champion. I also read online that Kane is now the 2nd person in WWE history to win the WWE Title, the ECW Title, and now the World Title.
As for the RAW MITB match, it wasn’t comparable to the SD match (SD’s was better), but I do have to say, it was AWESOME!!! Yes, The Miz is RAW’s MITB winner, and I’m excited as hell! When Miz first got into the WWE, I wasn’t a fan, but he’s grown as a competitor and is a wonder on the mic. Now, he’s destined to be a future champion!
The cage match was cool until the ending. I didn’t think that the refs would go a set of grapefruits and prevent the Nexus from getting into the cage, but bravo for them. The finish was somewhat predictable. I had a feeling that the Nexus would focus more on Cena, and not Sheamus.
