WWE NXT – 7/27/10
Last night on WWE NXT, the remaining seven rookies were on pins and needles as another poll and elimination would take place. Only one man is certain to stick around because of immunity, but the others are all vulnerable. Who’s dream was crushed? Find out right here:
Video Package: Tonight is the next poll. Who will be eliminated?
Matt Striker welcomes the NXT Rookies to the ring (Pros already seated on the stage). Matt gives each rookie a minute to talk about anything not related to the elimination tonight.
- Lucky Cannon talks about not having any friends growing up and nobody being there for him.
- Eli Cottonwood talks about being able to look into the eyes of many including The Undertaker.
- Husky Harris talks about himself being real and everyone else just being muscles and tans.
- Kaval talks about his dream of growing up to be a pro wrestler (even mentions his previous gimmick Low Ki)
- Michael McGillicutty talks about the video package from last week where everyone was on his side, except The Miz. Challenges him to a match.
- Alex Riley talks about refusing to cater to the fans when it comes to his personality.
- Percy Watson talks about taking the time to work hard, but party harder.
Video Package: What the WWE Pros think about “Showtime” Percy Watson.
Backstage: John Morrison giving Eli Cottonwood some advice on how to prepare for a match by watching video tape (video shown of Eli’s obstacle course run). Morrison laughs and Cottonwood’s upset. Morrison tells him to focus on tonight’s match with Michael McGillicutty. Cottonwood says he’s got one word for McGillicutty… Mustache… (terrible reference to the talk the talk challenge).
Video Package: Look back at obstacle course runs and Michael McGillicutty wins immunity.

Backstage: LayCool are talking to Kaval when Husky Harris walks through and bumps him. Kaval gets upset, and Harris says, “Sorry small fry, I didn’t notice you there.” LayCool yells at him, and Harris comments about Kaval “having his girlfriends fighting his battles for him.” Both men jaw back and forth about their match later.

WINNER: Harris via pin fall after hitting a Senton Back Splash
- Mid match, Harris accidentally knocked LayCool off the apron (Pros stand on apron to coach their rookie). Kaval concerned for his pros stands on the apron to check on them. Harris takes advantage of the distraction leading to the finish.
Matt Striker has the WWE Pros huddle up and make their decision as to who’s going home.
After the commercial break, Matt Striker and the NXT Rookies are ringside, and the poll is revealed.
- Michael McGillicutty
- Kaval
- Alex Riley
- Percy Watson
- Lucky Cannon
- Husky Harris
ELIMINATED: Eli Cottonwood
- Striker gives Cottonwood the microphone to comment, but Eli goes off and starts attacking Husky Harris. Alex Riley and Lucky Cannon try to pull him off, but they get some of the wrath. Eventually Eli heads up the ramp. His pro, John Morrison, asks what’s going on, and Eli shoves him backwards.
- Striker gets comments from Husky Harris who says, “They’ve seen the warpath I’ve been on. If that ain’t stepping up, then I don’t know what is… This is my dream. I deserve it!”
- Striker then moves to Michael McGillicutty. He says, “I’m 5-0, and I’m on the right path. Trust me, my record will be whatever and zero, and I’ll go on to be a World Champion.”
- Striker asks Alex Riley about being attacked by Eli Cottonwood, and he comments that he thinks nothing of it because he knows that he’s better than him and that he’s only got a few more spots to climb till he’s #1.
- Riley and McGillicutty brawl a little bit over the comments, and then Eli Cottonwood comes back out for some more action.
QUICK THOUGHTS:
Well, so far when it comes to the eliminations, two people that didn’t deserve to be there are gone. Now there’s only one more on my list that should be going home, and that’s Lucky Cannon. Everyone else that’s still on the show deserves to be there. They’ve got talent and personality that can be converted into the next WWE superstar.
What’s the point in having Ashley Valence on the show? She essentially was on camera for less than a minute to introduce a video package. Either let her be eye candy on TV more or get rid of her.
I’m guessing in the upcoming weeks we are going to see a match between Michael McGillicutty and The Miz. I think that’d be a great match too. Another rivalry between the Miz and someone who thinks that the Miz is simply a hack and isn’t worthy of his spot in WWE. I hope that this time the WWE capitalizes on it since they didn’t last season.
