Here is what went down on the first Impact of 2011:

-Eric talks about the new year and says that Genesis will be the beginning of the reign of Immortal when they get all the titles. He then introduces Jay Lethal. Jay comes out, but stops about half way to the ring. Eric ask him again and that nothing will happen, and says that it’s safe. Jay doesn’t enter automatically, but eventually gets in the ring. Eric then introduces the Motor City Machine Guns, and then Douglas Williams. Once the rest of them come into the ring, Eric starts talking about the credit they diverse from winning the titles and that at Genesis that they will give us 5 star matches. He then goes on to say that all three champions will be in matches against Abyss, Rob Terrie, AJ Styles, and Kazarian. He also wants them to exchange hand shakes to show sportsmanship. Neither do it and start arguing and then it eventually breaks out into a fight. Rob Van Dam’s music hits and he runs to the ring with Eric on the run. Rob Van Dam starts saying that he’s tired of these mind games and wants to know right now who his opponent is at Genesis. Eric then says that he’ll tell when he feels like it, and that if he wanted to he could break RVD in half.

Final Thoughts: Yeah, the night wasn’t that good at all. Over half the card was nothing more then just poor quality and nothing interesting coming into it. This was a very bad way to start TNA off for the new year, and is already not giving me a good impression about what they can deliver to us. If anyone from TNA management ever reads this (which I highly doubt), try harder to support your fans. Hell, maybe start listening to them to see what it is they like/don’t like. But if you continue to put on a show like I saw tonight, then prepare to lose even more ratings. Do something that would make people want to tune in, instead of another damn JJ MMA, or another boring singles matches. If it’s motivation, well here’s one for you. Create matches that make it seem like this is the last Impact/PPV that TNA will ever put out for Spike. Come on TNA, I know you have the people. But it’s making us think that your hardly even trying. So please, we don’t ask much, but try to at least put a little more effort into your shows and then maybe we will give you guys some better credit. Get your act together, and get back into the game. So early on the ballgame, it’s WWE 1, TNA 0.
