Raw 01/24/11 Review

Here’s what went down this past Monday on Raw:
-Show opens up with Edge coming down to the ring. He starts saying that he doesn’t like wait, and wants to wrestle the Miz now. GM interrupts Edge and says that the match will happen later tonight, and that he has not forgotten about the day that the he destroyed the computer. He then says that there will be a mini royal rumble match. And who ever throws him over the ropes will get the get the #40 position. Jack Swagger, Drew McIntyre, and Tyson Kid come out to the ring however to get eliminated. Edge then says that he’ll go back quietly, right after he breaks the computer. Nexus comes out to the ring. CM Punk says that only the strong survive because they evolve, and that last week that the Royal Rumble will be the biggest ever. He then says that he is strong, so he adapts to the changes. Then he goes on to introduce Macon Ryan, the newest member of Nexus. He then continues to say that all these members you see before you are bonded by faith and that they will win the Royal Rumble, and have CM Punk will go on to Wrestlemania to win the WWE Championship. The Corre’s music plays and they come down to the ring. Wade Barret says that any version of Nexus that’s washed up, is the current version of Nexus that’s run by CM Punk. Ezekiel starts talking and Macon gets in his face. The Raw GM says that if they are going to prove anything tonight, that both CM Punk & Wade Barret will compete tonight. However there will be two things: 1) There will be a special guest referee to determine a winner, and it’s someone they both are very familiar with, John Cena. 2) Who ever loses the match will not only be able to compete in the Royal Rumble, but so will their team.

Final Thoughts: What in the world was Micheal Tarver doing there? Last time I saw him was he was out of Nexus and not heard from since then. But my question is he going to be in the Royal Rumble, or is he just going to be in the locker room until it’s the next Monday Night Raw where he will compete? We’ll only find out during the coming week.
Matches over all tonight were nothing special, except for one match on the card. Champion VS Champion was the best of the night no doubt. Went on for almost 10 minutes, and enjoyed every minute of it. However it would have been better if there was no interfering from Dolph Ziggler. But one thing that’ll make up for it is what’s going to happen this Friday on Smackdown, Rated RKO re-united for one night only. Can not wait for that.
I keeped thinking all through out tonight that what I said a few weeks ago was actually going to happen, and it almost did. But now I’ve got to wonder if WWE is rely thinking about making a Nexus VS The Corre storyline? I mean, it has potential to make for some interesting ideas. For at the same time, it’s taking a page out of WCW’s play book with the whole nWo VS Wolfpack storyline. That to me, would be a bit to un-original for WWE to use.
