“Gimmick”

Definition: What personality and character the performer’s represent when they are having matches, doing interviews, etc. Some of the most memorable gimmicks are the ones that are so bad it’s fun to remember them. (See above photo)

“Reports”

Definition: The word wrestling dirt sheet sites use before making some outlandish prediction that has no facts behind it. The next sentence in most of those articles usually backpedals from the strong headline.

“Reports close to the backstage happenings in WWE claim that Goldberg, Sting, CM Punk, and Stone Cold are all coming back to form a stable. No further information is available at this time.”

Alternate Definition: The word dirt sheets use when they write articles about CM Punk coming back to WWE.

“Sports Entertainers”

Definition: The phrase most wrestling fans hate although it’s a big reason why WWE is as profitable and successful as it has been. John Cena is the definition of  ‘sports entertainer’ that’s actively in WWE. They are WWE 24/7/365 with promotional work, appearances, merchandise sales, on top of in ring work.
