WWE: Babyfaces Who Need to Be Pushed in Daniel Bryan’s Absence
Roman Reigns
Over the course of the past year, WWE has been building Roman Reigns up to be the next big thing in professional wrestling.
He pinned four separate wrestlers at Survivor Series 2013 and set the record for the most eliminations in a single Royal Rumble before being the last man sent over the top rope in 2014.
With an opportunity to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Battleground, Reigns can complete his rise to the top by doing the unthinkable: pinning John Cena.
Even if Reigns isn’t to defeat Cena, it’s vital that WWE continues to put him over as the future of the company. Cena can pin either Kane or Randy Orton in the title match at Battleground, all the while maintaining Reigns’ momentum.
From there, Reigns’ feud with Kane would culminate in a later scheduled grudge match that ultimately pushes Reigns into being the No. 1 contender.
From there, it’s a question of whether or not WWE wants to keep the 28-year-old as a face or make him heel for a pending feud with Cena.
If the face route is followed, Reigns can be the confident powerhouse who’s prepared to dethrone the legendary Cena in one-on-one action. If the heel route is followed, the same approach can be taken, but with an added hint of relentless physicality that includes storyline injuries via blindside attacks.
Regardless of how he’s pushed, Reigns needs to win the world title within the next few months.
