Xavier Woods

There’s nothing worse in the world of professional wrestling than a missed opportunity.

WWE has an incredible chance to dismiss stereotypes and build a genuine star with Xavier Woods. Unfortunately, Woods’ talents are currently being wasted in a tag team that’s receiving limited opportunities.

Worst of all, Woods is more of a cheap-pop face than anything else.

It’s time WWE alters Woods’ trajectory by giving him direction as a character.

The man behind Xavier Woods is a 27-year-old from Marietta, Georgia named Austin Watson. On top of being an incredible athlete, he’s a scholar who has his Bachelor of Arts in psychology and philosophy, his Master’s Degree in psychology and is pursuing a PhD.

Why shy away from the fact that Woods is a brilliant and dedicated scholar whose level of intelligence supersedes the jobbing dancer role that he’s currently playing?

This isn’t to say that Woods can’t maintain the fan-friendliness of his character, but instead it acknowledges the potential he possesses. =

Woods can be a face who embodies the anti-bullying, anti-stereotype campaigns that WWE is committed to, or he can be an anti-Damien Sandow.

A genuine feud between those two would be a great place to start for WWE’s resident scholar.
