WWE Rewind: 2010 Fatal 4-Way Review
By Ben Raven
Fatal four-way match for the WWE Championship
Sheamus vs. John Cena (c) vs. Randy Orton vs. Edge
As star-studded as this match is, it’s obviously just in place to get the championship off of Cena without making him look weak.
There are some great inner-workings here with Edge and Orton, as they’re coming off of their time as Rated RKO.
The last five minutes or so of this one is where it gets really fun, as there continues to be near-finishes with save after save.
There are some major whiffs in this match, as Edge lightly spears Orton off the apron and Sheamus sweetly and softly Brogue Kicks Edge out of the ring.
It turns out this match had more than one purpose, and that was to build up the Nexus vs. Cena/WWE angle.
The faction runs out after beating the daylights out of R-Truth, Evan Bourne and The Hart Dynasty. Jerry Lawler is escorted from ringside as Michael Cole also disappears.
Nexus beats everyone down besides Sheamus as the Celtic Warrior plays the swift heel and sneaks the pin on Cena as the Nexus chases the new champion away.
This PPV was clearly a transitional one with two new world champions crowned and a faction being billed as a major threat to everyone on the WWE roster.
To enjoy this show, you have to do two things: Enjoy and cherish Y2J/Bourne’s mid-card heroics and appreciate the dominate billing of the Nexus.
