GREAT, YOU’RE A WRESTLER…GOOD LUCK WITH THAT

Once you’re trained and have somewhat regular work, there’s the whole “who are you, again” issue to deal with. A wrestler is only as good as their organization and their opponents. If you’re being trained by Shawn Michaels, you’re going to look much better than if you’re being trained by the guy down the street with a ring setup in his back yard.

Who you’re wrestling matters, where you’re wrestling matters and how you’re being booked matters. The pitfalls of wrestling on the independent circuit go beyond what most can imagine. The promoters can make you look better (or worse) than you really are. Once you start drawing, maybe they want to keep you in their organization and start planting false rumors so that the big companies are scared off. Think that doesn’t happen? You’re wrong.

Just getting a quick glance from WWE, TNA, ROH or some of the International brands is a major struggle. Often times, it’s the connections you have. As in life, sometimes it’s who you know. If….IF you’re lucky enough to have one of those connections and you’re able to make use of them and get yourself some work with the big boys…good luck with that.
